Background: SRF 1 is the main channel of SRF, the German-centric broadcaster part of SRG SSR. It was launched in 1953 as SF DRS, and was renamed in 1997 to SF1 with the launch of its 2nd channel, SF2 (now SRF zwei). It gained its current name in 2012, after SF and DRS were merged together.

SF DRS

1st Logo
(1985-1990)

Logo: On a timelapse sky background, there is a small floor with more timelapse sky footage. A chrome version of the SRG SSR logo, which is a 4-segmented diamond shape with a smaller copy of it inside the center, fades in and quickly zooms out. A bright shine then appears and causes the logo to disappear, causing the chrome text "DRS" to zoom in its place. A small ping appears on the "S".

FX/SFX: Just the logo zooming out and text zooming in. The pings appear to be made with actual pings.

Music/Sounds: A heavenly synthesizer tune with a few piano notes, which is actually Antarctica Echoesby Vangelis.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(August 1990-1994)

Logo: On a ocean full of crystals, rainbow lasers fly out as the camera follows them. The lasers stop flying down as they reach a close distance above the water, then continues their path going straight. The lasers then quickly center one by one, creating flashes for each laser. Then after the flashes, the crystals become colorful The camera remains in movement until it reaches the shiny
blue crystal, revealing the logo symbol inside of it. The words "Schweizer Fernsehen" fades in below the logo symbol.

Variants: An early version exists where the lasers rotate, the music sounds more 'dreamy, and the logo looking a little more cheap.

FX/SFX: Excellent CGI for the time, however it doesn't really hold up for today's standards.

Music/Sounds: A dreamy crystal-like tune.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: None.
