Background: D & B Films Co., Ltd. was a movie production company, set up in Hong Kong by John Sham and Sammo Hung, with Dickson Poon backing it up with money and Dickson's logo. Throughout their lifespan, their were one of the biggest and most important, along with Golden Harvest and Cinema City, though it eventually shut down in 1992.

(1984-1992)

Logo: On a black background, the aquamarine text "D & B" is drawn below, facing towards the top of the screen. When it finishes, it rotates towards the screen, remains for a few seconds, then they compress into a long aquamarine bar, position towards the left of the screen. The bar then rotates to the left, reveal a row of 5 yellow lines, as a large yellow curve draws in around it. This forms the Dickson Concepts logo (a large banana yellow "D" with lines making up its bar), as "D & B FILMS CO., LTD." appear below in aquamarine, with the Chinese characters appearing below a second later. 5 pings then appear on the "D", with the first on the top left tip, then the bottom right edge, then the top right edge, then the bottom left tip, and finally the middle of the curve.

FX/SFX: The text drawing, compressing, the bar rotating, the "D" forming, the text appearing, and the pings.

Music/Sounds: Begins with some timpani drums banging, before a brief trumpet solo and a violin stinger. More trumpets then play, before ending with a string, then orchestral, finale. This famous piece would later be re-orchestrated, and eventually, synthesized.

Availability: Uncommon. Their library is large, but finding copies of their work can be hard to find. It appears on some series of films, like It's A Mad Mad World, In The Line of Duty, and Black Cat, among others.

Editor's Note: Though the animation is pretty choppy, its one of the most famous Hong Kong movie logos and is a favorite to their fans.
