Got Milk?/California Milk Processor Board (1993-200?)

Background: In 1993 the California goverment commisioned a group of milk processors to have a marketing board named the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), which was first led by Jeff Manning. They helped increase the sales of milk with the aid of ad agency Goodby, Silverstien, and Partners. Their creation: "Got Milk?". This is for the original "Deprivation" campaign with cookies and cake and not the nutitrious milk mustache ads done nationally.

Nickname(s) "The Milk Mustache Slogan", "The Creepy Voiceover", "Cookie Ad logo"

During the spot, a byline/super says "Sponsored by California Milk Processor Board". Once we get to a final shot, these words flash on a black BG in white letters:

got milk?

Along with a evening radio DJ/PSA-like commercial announcer voice-over that says the slogan.

Variant(s) :

The first spot, "Aaorn Burr", has the Got Milk? logo fading in/fading out. Depending on the air date that a person sees it, the logo may not have the voice over and just the hang-up tone.

In the "Cats" spot, a flashing "Got Milk?" dims like a lightbulb when the cat switches off the light.

"Hall of Mirrors" has the wobble rhythmed to the mirror hit that the person made.

"Heaven" has flames on the "Got Milk?" logo.

Mid-90's spots would either countine the plot of the commercial for a second or have a line after the voice-over.

For supers, there has been these variants:

"Sponsored by California Milk Processor Board"
"Copyright (Year) the California Milk Processor Fluid Advisory Board"
"California Milk Processor Fluid Advisory Board"
"Sponsored by California Milk Processor Fluid Advisory Board"
"California Milk Processor Advisory Board"
"California Milk Processor Board"

But in 1995, most homes outside of California saw this byline in "super" copies:

Sponsored by *REAL SEAL* America's Dairy Farmers.

This super was an error for the rewritten version of the "Body Cast" script in the book "Got Milk?: The Book" that had the wrong byline.

FX: The standard ad would jumpcut from the last shot to the logo.

Sounds: The voice-over of the slogan.

Availability: After the official license to national dairy boards in 1995, supers said "Sponsored by America's Dairy Farmers" along with the "REAL seal" in viewings outside of California. The spot often posted on YouTube with the man's arms cut off is the original, while many older 90's spots have the America's Dairy Farmers tag depending on the area where the source of the ad was taped.

However, if you live in the San Francisco area or found an original version online in an advertising agency/study related website or video-sharing sites., you might strike orginial versions. However, some originals have no super byline at all.

Scare Factor: Median, the creepy "radio" voice-over at the end might catch you off-guard.
