Background: KVIE is a PBS affiliate located in Sacramento, California.

1st Logo:
(1975-1979)

KVIE logo from 1975Nickname: "The Lake"

Logo: We pan up from a lake, showing trees and a sunset, already with text showing "A PRODUCTION FROM" and "SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA". A yellow KVIE logo, in a Pac-Man-esque font slides in from the left, and "A PRODUCTION FROM" slides up, as we pan up from the lake.

FX/SFX: The chyron text over the live-action background, the sliding.

Music/Sounds
: Unknown.

Availability: This made an appearance on KVIE's 50th anniversary special. Other than that, it's pretty hard to find.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(1979-1980)

Logo: On a blue background, we see "KVIE6" in the same font as before, but the "I" is capitalized. Below is "Sacramento/Stockton" All the characters are outlined yellow and colored black.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: A repeating Moog synth warble.

Availability: Seen on Leo Buscaglia's The Art of Being Fully Human.

Editor's Note: The repetitive synth music, as well as the slightly ugly color scheme/design might put a few off. Otherwise, this is boring and annoying.

4th Logo
(1980-1986)

Logo: Over a red fabric-esque background, the KVIE logo from before fades in and flashes in slowly. The difference here is the "6" is absent, the logo is smaller, and the logo is completely white.

FX/SFX: The fade in and flash.

Music/Sounds: Same as the WJCT logo, but high pitched.

Availability: Seen on Leo Buscaglia's Speaking of Love.

Editor's Note: None.

4th Logo
(1986-1995)
KVIE Late 1980s
Nickname: "Purple Circle"

Logo: Set on a purple background, we see a purple circle being drawn in counter-clockwise, then a much lighter circle of the same color draws in the same direction, and the word "SACRAMENTO" appears. "KVIE"in a Haettenschwelier font, then fades in, and the logo shines.

FX/SFX: Simple early CGI animation that is bringing out accuracy.

Music/Sounds: A loud Moog synthesizer bass note that almost sounds like the beginning of the first Cannon-VMP logo's jingle.

Availability: Should be on very old California's Heartland episodes from the George Reading era. It also appeared on Fit or Fat specials.

Editor's Note: None.
