Background: NetherRealm Studios was originally founded as a "Midway Chicago" studio, which survived the closure of Midway Games and was sold to Warner Bros, being renamed to "WB Games Chicago" for some time. Under its new name, the company developed the 2011 Mortal Kombat game.

Nicknames: "The Scorpion Logo", "The Mortal Kombat Logo"

Logo: On a black background is a silhouette of a rising Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat series. He is dangling his spear. Behind him is an animating red fireball. The picture eases back and flashes into a still image with "NETHEЯREALM STUDIOS" below stacked. The first "R" in "NETHERREALM" is backwards.

Trivia: The name comes from the hell-like dimension as seen on the Mortal Kombat series.

Variants:
  • On the downloadable Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection and WWE Immortals, the logo is still.
  • On Injustice: Gods Among Us, the logo is gray and appears on stone.
  • The logo is plain white on Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2.

FX/SFX: The fireball, the flash, the camera.

Music/Sounds: A hissing that sustains itself throughout the logo and a chime when it flashes.

Music/Sounds Variant: On the still version, it's silent.

Availability: Seen on Mortal Kombat for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PS Vita. The still variant is seen on the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, a downloadable on the Playstation Network and XBox Live, and WWE Immortals on iOS and Android. Also appeared on Injustice: Gods Among Us.
