1st Logo
(1985-1991)

Nicknames: "The Wavelength", "The Morphing Wavelength"

Logo: On a blue background, the Yleisradio logo of the time is seen, which was the 2nd logo (a blue circle with 2 evergreen trees, a radio tower, a wavelength, and "RADIO" in a bold font.) encased in a white oblong. Here, though, the tower is missing the lines and the wavelength moves and is more angular. After a bit, the wavelength zooms in from the logo and begins to glow as the background becomes black and the logo disappears. The wavelength then condenses into a slash shape (/) and 3 more draw in, the last one condensing into a spiral, as it moves towards the left. When the logo finishes drawing,
"TALLENNEPALVELU" (Finnish for Cassette Service) fade in below.

Variant: The closing logo seen at the end of home video release, features the same logo animation, except now we see the logo with "KASSETTJÄNST" (Swedish for Cassette Service) fading in below.

FX/SFX: The wavelength moving, the wavelength morphing.

Music/Sounds: A droning synth chime tune. This is actually a remix of old interval signal heard in Yle's radio broadcasts.

Availability: Extremely rare. Seen on tapes from the time period.

Editor's Note: This is a nice animated representation of the Yleisradio logo, though the remix of the interval symbol isn't that friendly.

2nd Logo
(1992-2000)

Nickname: "Rings on VHS"

Logo: Same as the 1st Yle logo, but "KASETTIKANAVA" appears below it at the same time. It then goes to the top left corner as the warning screen scrolls up.

FX/SFX: Same as the 1st Yle logo.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 1st Yle logo.

Availability: Extremely rare. It could be spotted in reprints of Rölli (1986), Finnish dubbed Alfred J Kwak (1989) and Moomin (1990) anime VHS releases.

Editor's Note: Same as the 1st Yle logo.
