Background: Société Nouvelle de Distribution (SND) is a film company owned by Groupe M6, which is a French TV channel. They owned 10% of the capitals from Summit Entertainment until 2012, when they decided to sell its assets after Summit was purchased by Lionsgate.

Not to be confused with Italian distributor SND.

1st (known) Logo
(1990's-2002)

Société Nouvelle de Distribution (1999)

Note : This snapshot is in black and white due to a VCR processing error. The real logo is in color.

Logo: We see the SND letters flashing from right to left, with the text "Société Nouvelle de Distribution" appearing below it.

FX/SFX: The flashes forming the SND letters.

Music/Sounds: A tribal theme.

Availability: Seen on some releases from the company, like French prints of Very Bad Things.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(2002-2011)

SND 2000's

Logo
: On a black background, a series of light blue flashes are forming the letters "SND", while "Groupe M6" appears in a "wipe" effect underneath. A laser then forms a solid blue square shape.

FX/SFX: The flashes and laser forming the logo, which were done using CGI effects, despite the cheap-looking aspect of the logo.

Music/Sounds: A drone pad tune, with whooshes heard when SND appears, then a laser-like sound when the blue square is formed.

Availability: Seen on releases from the company at the time.

Editor's Note: None.

3rd Logo
(2011-)
SND 2014

Logo: The camera moves and tilts from the left side of the SND logo, soon revealing the blue SND square on the top of a roulette-like shape with the text "Groupe M6" rotating on it. We also see a comet coming from the upper left of the screen, turning behind the logo, then hitting the floor, and finally leaving from the right side of the screen.

FX/SFX: The SND logo and the comet, again done in CGI. Pretty impressive effects.

Music/Sounds: A synth tune, with a 3-note piano motif, followed by a tribal beat.

Availability: Current. Seen on most releases from the company since 2011.

Editor's Note: This and the parent company's M6 Studio logo have similar animation concepts.
