Background: Initially founded as Richard Price Television Associates (RPTA), and in some cases it would have this company byline. They were once distributors of the London Weekend material in the United States.

(1984-1990s?)

Logo: On a black background, two white lights coming from the top and left of the screen draw a pair of two red lines (one going horizontal, one going vertical). Then four light-blue squares slide in the corners of the lines, and the whole thing flashes and zooms out to reveal the word "PRIMETIME" in big, bold red letters on a black/blue gradient background. Then, the text "ENTERTAINMENT, INC." (also in red) zooms out from the bottom in a shadow effect and positions itself under the "PRIMETIME" text. When everything's in place, the logo shines.

Variant: There is an abridged variant just with the text
"ENTERTAINMENT, INC." zooming out. It's also open matte.

FX/SFX: Scanimate effects.

Music/Sounds:
  • "Prestige Logo (f)" by Paddy Kingsland (A type of "warbling" synth jingle that turns into a synthesized fanfare alongside a descending synth glissando at the end).
  • In exceptional cases, the closing theme is played instead.

Availability: Extinct.
  • Last seen on U.S. airings of the British TV show Terrahawks during the '80s in syndication.
  • Also seen on mid-1980s prints of classic CBS TV movies offered on their syndication packages, plastering the Trident logo. One example is the 1972 movie Something Evil.
  • The abridged variant was seen on What a Country!, the American version of LWT's Mind Your Language.

Editor's Note: None.
