Background: Penta Pictures (also known as "Penta Entertainment" and "PentAmerica") was the short-lived American production branch of Italian distribution company Penta Film, a joint venture between producers Mario & Vittorio Cecchi Gori (founders of Cecchi Gori Group, producers of Il Postino) and fellow producer Silvio Berlusconi, the future Prime Minister of Italy. In addition to financing its own productions, Penta distributed Castle Rock Entertainment films throughout Europe in the early 1990s.

(1992-1993)

Nickname: "The Pentagon"

Logo: We see five comets moving in various directions over a black BG. The comets' traces create a star, which slowly rotates with the light cloud under it. Then light ceases and a blue pentagonal figure appears around the star. Every of its five parts have two lines over. "PENTA PICTURES" also appears below, in the same color as the pentagon.

Variants: There are two international variants:one reads "PENTA PICTURES EUROPE" ("Europe" is below),
first seen on Love Potion #9; the other reads "PENTA EUROPE", on international releases of A Bronx Tale.

FX/SFX: Shooting comets, star rotating and becoming a pentagon.

Music/Sounds: A synth theme, accompanied by four whooshes, a long whoosh, and a chime. Sometimes, it's silent or the opening theme.

Music/Sounds Variant: On international prints of Love Potion #9, the 1981 20th Century Fox fanfare is heard, due to an obvious plaster error.

Availability: Can be seen on Folks!, Man Trouble, and House of Cards (1992), among others. The European variants are very rare, and can be found on international prints of A Bronx Tale, Love Potion #9, as well as some Castle Rock Entertainment films.

Editor's Note: None.
