Not to be confused with Pixar.

Background: Luxoflux was a game studio founded in 1997 with a small team of five developers and based in Santa Monica, California. It was taken over by Activision in October 2002. In February 2010 the studio was closed down together with Underground Development as part of the cost-cutting plan.

1st LogoLuxoflux (1999)
(1998-2000)

Logo: On a black background, we see the oval orange banner with the word Luxoflux written inside in its corporate font rotate vertically to its full view. The text shines afterward.

Captions
: On Vigilante 8 and Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, a caption appears in an italic green font, which changes every time you boot up one of the two games, a la the opening to Futurama (coincidentally, at the time of Futurama's premire on the Fox network in March 23rd, 1999, the release of V8: 2O was only 8 months away, which is surprisingly the same number in the franchise's title!). Here are the captions for each game:

Vigilante 8:
  • Others may be new, but none so truly modern!
  • NEW & IMPROVED
  • In LuxoColor
  • MADE
  • For the modern family!
  • You can taste the difference!
  • Now, with new Terrain-O-Rama!
  • Better products for happier living!
  • Deluxe
  • Quality made entertainment
  • It's just what the doctor ordered!

Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense:
  • Vehicular destruction since 1998
  • www.luxoflux.com
  • Weird name. Serious stuff.
Other V8: 2O captions TBA.

FX/SFX:The rotating shield and shining effect...

Editor's Note: The logo FX (mentioned above) looks too simple for games released in the late 90's, which is minimal.

Music/Sounds: A windchime pass, then a crystallized shining noise. On the N64 versions of both V8 games, a brief rock tune is heard.

Availability: Seen on Vigilante 8for PlayStation and Nintendo 64 and its sequel, Vigilante 8:2nd Offense for the former and latter consoles, as well as Dreamcast.

2nd Logo
(2003-2008)Luxoflux (2004)

Logo: The orange banner logo appears with more accurate color design and emboss effect. The animation starts with custom sequence, which shows the shining logo at the end.

FX/SFX: The animation in the logo.

Variants:
  • On Streets of LA, the main character comes and kicks the screen with his fist, we briefly see the ring with Luxoflux logo, then the shining logo remains alone.
  • On New York City, the main character blasts the screen with his leg and the logo is carved on his boot.
  • On Shrek 2, a leprechaun appears in a flash of green smoke and presents the logo from his hat.
  • On Kung Fu Panda, the logo just zooms in from the blur and shines.

Music/Sounds: A wheezing sound when the logo shines. On True Crime games, it's preceded by angry roars of the characters. On Shrek, we can also hear the sound of logo being extracted from the hat.

Availability: Seen on True Crime: Streets of LA, its sequel New York City, on Shrek 2 and Kung Fu Panda.

Editor's Note: Low to medium.

3rd Logo
(June 23, 2009)
Luxoflux (2009)
Logo: The logo designed in the same style as others in the game. The silver word Luxoflux zooms in, transforming in process. When complete, it's enveloped by blue laser banner, which becomes solid and turns into the usual logo.

FX/SFX: The logo collecting itself from parts, and the laser form.

Music/Sounds: Metal scrambling sounds.

Availability: Seen on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Editor's Note: Low.
