Background: Ion Storm was a game developer formed under the wing of Eidos in 1996. The first office was based in Dallas, Texas and led by John Romero and Tom Hall. Their progress was notorious for release delays and extensive money shedding which almost drove Eidos into grave. The division was closed in 2001. The second office in Austin was led by Warren Spector and produced much more successful game Deus Ex. This studio survived until 2005, when it too was closed for financial troubles.
