Dear CLG Wiki:

My favorite studio logo is Lorimar-Telepictures. When I say that name, I'm not talkin' about the prototype logo, I'm talkin' about the finalized one. I like that logo because of how magnificently they did it and seeing both company names "Lorimar" and "Telepictures" in their retrospective late-1970s fonts. And I like the music as well, even if it's synthesized. I've seen this logo on most movies and TV series done in the late '80s, especially in '80s Rankin/Bass cartoons "ThunderCats" and "SilverHawks." I sure miss L-T. I'd love it if Warner Bros. brought this logo back, but retooled it for the 21st century (a combo of claymation and CGI is the perfect blend for the logo's resurgence), and the music, composed by John Parker and Mark Snow, to be rerecorded faithfully by somebody else who's experienced in the synth field. I don't get why some people fear the logo and music at all. I have absolutely no fear of neither. Good-bye now, and thank you.

A few of my favorite logos are:

- Stoop!d Monkey [2005-Present] (One of the funniest logos I've seen)

- Warner Bros. "CGI Shield" (Great CGI for the era combined with classical music = Win)

- Warner Home Video "Cheesy Shield" (I loved this logo; it was more exciting than their current logo)

- Viacom "V of Doom" [Videotaped w\ light green background & extended drum] (This is probably the best variation of the V of Doom. The extra pounds of the drum just adds to it's awesomeness)

My faves would have to include:

-The "dancing sticks" Screen Gems logo (I'd love to know who animated that).
-The Revue/Universal City filmstrips.
-The original Lorimar logo (the Fender Rhodes arpeggio makes it the most sedate logo in my book).
-A.K.A. Cartoon (love Patrick Caird's music for this!).
-The flying Warner Brothers shield seen in the mid 1930's movies.
-Stretch Films.
-The Gene Deitch-era Terrytoons 'smiley box' logo, especially where the squiggles morph into the words TERRYTOONS. (I sometimes wonder if Mighty Mouse blowing the poor smiley guy up at the beginning of MIGHTY MOUSE PLAYHOUSE was Bill Weiss' 'farewell' to Deitch, whom he was none too fond of).
-The early 60's United Artists 'disappearing letters' logo.
And last but not least, the classic Filmways logo, especially Eva Gabor's "dahling". And unless i've missed it (which is possible), I have the entire ADDAMS FAMILY on DVD, and have yet to hear Ted Cassidy intone "This has been a Filmways presentation' on any of them. Perhaps it got lost in the mix for the reissue. Now if only they had gotten Cousin Itt to do it....
