Don't say goodbye to New Line quite yet. New Line is being kept as a label of WB. In fact, I could now see New Line as WB's answer to DreamWorks (which is a label of Paramount that also releases major films).

I had expected this to come for quite a while now. And look at WB's deal with Legendary Pictures. A good number of these films have turned out to be quite profitable for WB. Especially 300. Maybe after the deal expires WB can swoop in to acquire Legendary and treat it as another major label to release films under - kind of like a second answer to DreamWorks, and also, the WB logo would no longer appear at the beginning of Legendary Pictures productions if such a deal were to materialize.

And also, this could allow New Line to have more co-productions with other major studios. I know a lot of good books out there that haven't been filmed. Like some of Stephen King's recent novels. Let's take "The Colorado Kid" for example. New Line and DreamWorks could co-purchase the film rights to the novel. DreamWorks/Paramount could release the film in North America, and New Line/WB could release it overseas. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

New Line will still make movies under its name and logo, but its films will be distributed by WB. Do you find this valuable?
