others1st Logo
(1989-1992)
Nickname: "Fast Connecting"
Logo: On a gray background we see the gold letters "
FEATURE'' and "PRESENTATION" connecting at a fast speed.Variant: Instead of a gray background, in some movies the background is black.
FX: The connecting.
Music: The FP fanfare with an announcer saying "And now for our feature presentation" cheerfully. The announcer is Grant Goodeve (later credited as the voice of Wolf O'Donnell in the GameCube game
Star Fox: Assault).
Availability: Very rare. It was first seen on the first print of
Cocktail. It is also seen on many films released afterwards. Can be also seen on the 1991 prints of
Robin Hood, The Rescuers Down Under, and
The Brave Little Toaster. Also seen on the first two releases of
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and
What About Bob?.
Scare Factor: Minimal to low. The sudden zooming of the words might catch some off guard, but it's pretty tame and the announcer says in a very cheerful tone.
2nd Logo
(1992-1999)
Nickname: "Handwriting"
Logo: On a lilac blue gradient background, we see a dot writing "Feature Presentation" in a handwriting script font.
Variants:
- The 1992 VHS release of The Rescuers uses a black-navy blue gradient background instead of the standard lilac blue gradient background. This is then followed by the 1992 Walt Disney Classics logo with distorted audio.
- The release of Minneapolis Stories has Minneapolis' skyline as a background.
- The re-release of My Science Project uses the Touchstone Home Video waterdrop with the studio's name shining.
- The release of The Great Anchorage Earthquake, the lilac gradient background is replaced by a green background.
- The 1st variant ended in April 1996 with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Later in October of the same year, a new variant began with Toy Story with the announcer saying "Thanks for joining us for this special preview, and now, our feature presentation."
- On Aladdin and The King of Thieves, and on most 1999 prints of all Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection titles, they re-used the 1st variant, although they were supposed to use the 4th FP logo or the 2nd variant of this logo.
FX: The handwriting (hence the name).
Music: The same 1989 FP fanfare (a brass and string orchestra fanfare) with an announcer saying "And now, our feature presentation". The announcer is Mark Elliot.
Availabilty: Common. It was first seen on the 3rd reissue of
The Rescuers Down Under from 1991. It could also be seen on all Disney Classics tapes starting in 1991 such as
Aladdin, The Rescuers, and
Pinocchio, as well as Walt Disney Masterpeice Collection era releases such as
The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty and others. Other than Walt Disney, it can be also seen on Touchstone, Miramax, and Hollywood Pictures' releases of this time.
Scare Factor:
Depending on the variants
- 1st Variant: Median to high. Some people might not like the style of font the words are written out. Also, the sudden fanfare and announcer might get to some.
- 2nd Variant: None to low since the fanfare's volume sounds lowered.
- Navy Blue variant: Median to nightmare, because the background is darker, and this followed by the distorted Walt Disney Classics logo.
- But none to minimal for those who are used to seeing both the original variant and the Navy Blue variant.
Nevertheless, it's a widely popular logo.
3rd Logo
(1992-1994)
Nickname: "Fast Connecting II"
Logo: On a black background we see the blue "
FEATURE" and "
PRESENTATION" connecting.
Variants:
- On the 1992 release of So Dear to My Heart they had the 1989 FP fanfare like the 1989 FP logo and the announcer saying "And now for our feature presentation".
- On some tapes, such as the 1998 release of The Brave Little Toaster, it used the 1992 Gold WDHV music and read "Feature Program".
FX: The words connecting.
Music: Same 1989 FP jingle with an announcer saying "And now for our feature presentation". The announcer for that is Jim Cummings. On releases from 1993-1994, another announcer will say "And now our feature presentation". Also, the announcer is Grant Goodeve, again.
Music/Sound variant: On the "Feature Program" variants, an announcer will read, "And now, our Feature Program".
Availabilty: Can be seen on 1992-1994 tapes such as
The Brave Little Toaster, among others.
Scare Factor: Same as the 1st logo, but compared to the next logo, it's nothing.
4th Logo
(1994-2000)
Nicknames: "The Evil Flash", "The Flash of Doom", "Evil Feature Presentation"
Logo: The "
FEATURE PRESENTATION" zooms out with blue letters and the white flash pops out and the colors change into a blue background and white letters.
Music: A whooshing sound and an announcer saying "And now our feature presentation". The announcer is Brian Cummings.
Availabilty: Seen on 1994-2000 tapes such as most Disney Masterpiece Collection tapes, although most 1999 prints feature the second logo instead. It ended with
Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You.Scare Factor: High to Nightmare, because the flash combined with the scary music can catch you off-guard.
5th Logo
(2000-December 2006)
Logo: On a gold background we see the Feature Presentation logo zooming to the left and then a blue blurry film background changes and the "Feature" zoom to the left and the "PRESENTATION" zoom to the right and connect together in the middle. The gold arrows move in different ways.
Variants: - On some tapes, such as Toy Story 2 has the announcer saying a little slower.
- The regular voiceover, seen on Monsters Inc., Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and The Tigger Movie, can also be heard on the 1999 releases of Pinocchio and Inspector Gadget, although those movies have their own variations of the FP logo.
Music: A gentle flat music plays and Brian Cummings says ''And now our feature presentation'', followed by a distant drumroll (or rumbling) sound.
Availabilty: Seen on only some 1999, 2000-2004 tapes (Disney stopped making tapes in 2004)
Scare Factor: None to low, the music may startle some, but it is a good logo to be exact.
