1st Logo
(1982-1993)

WJCT - CLG Wiki
Nickname: "Skyline Fireworks"

Logo: Set against the Jacksonville skylines at dusk (the sky looksyellowish-brown), we seewhite-colored fireworks shooting into the sky. Suddenly, aredrectangular frame shoots toward the viewer at a fast pace, and then, we see adark redstarburst appearing within it, along with "WJCT", coloredblue, below the starburst, and "Jacksonville" at the bottom. The logo shines all over.

FX/SFX: The fireworks, and the starburst shooting.

Music/Sounds: A somber, four-note synth-chime tune that kinda rips off NBC's famous jingle. Even the notes are similar (It's G-E-E-C.)

Availability: A few Jacksonville-based cooking shows had this logo on it. Shows produced by WJCT don't seem to be on many PBS channels that often. If you have any tapes of Jacksonville Jazz Festival specials airing on PBS from back then, you should be able to see this logo.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(1993-1998)

Nickname: "Glass WCJT"

Logo: On a black background, the camera pans down from 3 glass copies of the fireworks logo from before, shining many different colors. As the copies straighten out, a glass rectangle with "WJCT" embossed on the bottom flips in. The fireworks stick to the back and the rectangle flips around to reveal a large "7" over the logo as it shines. "JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA" flips in below.

FX/SFX: The rotating logo. Fairly simple CGI animation, but it is advanced for the time, as you would see this in the late 1990's/early 2000's. Nothing too cheesy here, so it's much better than the previous logo.

Music/Sounds: A rising synth is heard at first. This is followed by a short piano tune and a timpani roll. Chimes are heard when it shines. It sounds very similar to the OS/2 Warp 4 startup sound.

Music/Sounds Variant: On a 1993 episode of The Pollcats, Paul Van Osdol says "From WJCT, channel 7, Jacksonville, this is The Pollcats."

Availability: Rare. Seen on The Pollcats, which can be viewed in the American Archive of Public Broadcasting.

Editor's Note: The dark vibe will surprise a few, but other than that, it is completely harmless, clean, and superior to the previous logo.
