Vidmark Entertainment/Trimark Home Video

Background: Vidmark Entertainment was formed in 1984 by Vidmark, Inc. as home video company to distribute various low-budget movies, mainly from the Trimark library, but in 1997 it was renamed as Trimark Home Video, being absorbed finally by Lions Gate Entertainment in 2000.

1st Logo
(1984-1988)
Nickname: "Vidmark in Space"
Logo: On a zooming blue space background, the Vidmark logo, colored purple, flies in from the top right, swiveling all the while. "Entertainment" fades in below
FX/SFX/Cheesy Factor: The space background looks crappy, plus, the animation is too simple.
Music/Sounds: A three-note horn tune, followed by three drumbeats, combined with three horn notes, an electric guitar, and a synth flourish.
Availability: Very rare. Check your video store's backstock for videos of this era.
Scare Factor: Low.
2nd Logo
(1988-1997)
Nickname: "Colored Lasers"
Logo: With a "trail" effect, the Vidmark logo flies down from the top. "Lasers" (colored neon green, pink, gold, and aquamarine) etch the grooves in MARK. The word ENTERTAINMENT wipes in from the left to the right via a light effect. The logo shines and then zooms toward the screen.
FX/SFX: The zooming effects, the trail, the "lasers". A lot of effort here.
Music/Sounds: A disco-like synthesized fanfare.
Availability: Much more common than the previous logo, but still uncommon.
Scare Factor: Low, although the zoom in of the logo at the end may scare some.

Nickname: "Lion Triangle"
Logo: The Same as the movie counterpart, only difference is that the triangle is already formed, and the words "HOME VIDEO" replaces "PICTURES"

Music/Sounds: A jungle-like synthetized score.
Availability: Seen on Trimark Videos.
