Background: This is the current name of the television production arm of NBC Universal Television (formerly NBC Universal Television Studio) reincorporated on
June 14, 2007. The logo debuted on November 5, 2007.

Universal Media Studios Globe Dome" (2007-)Universal Media Studios (2009)Universal Media Studios (2009)

Nicknames: "Sunburst II", "Globe Dome"

Logo: The logo starts on a black background with a golden burst of light (very likely intended to be the sun
). Then, a half-globe motif figure, with the features of earth zooms back and "UNIVERSAL MEDIA STUDIOS" in the Copperplate font in place since 1990, is below it. While that happens, the golden burst of light gets brighter, and expands, a la the 1988 ABC Productions logo.

Byline: Beginning in 2009, the byline "A DIVISION OF NBC UNIVERSAL" appears below the logo.

Variants
:
  • Both long, short and still versions exist for this logo.
  • The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Last Call with Carson Daly have the NBC Studios copyright stamp. The version on Fallon's show has a very cheap looking zoom out effect.

FX/SFX: The light expanding, and the half-globe motif showing parts of the earth. It's somewhat reminiscent of the ABC Productions logo from 1988.

Music/Sounds: A rock jingle, but rarely used because of NBC using their generic theme over it. In some cases, it uses the closing theme of the show. The logo with the real jingle can be found on Bionic Woman re-runs on Syfy, House on Fox, Battlestar Gallatica and Eureka on Syfy, new Monk and Psych seasons on USA, and full episodes of UMS produced shows on NBC, Fox, USA, Syfy's websites, and Hulu.com.

Availability: Currently in use. Appears on many shows on NBC (naturally), and it also appears on other ex-NUTS shows, such as House, M.D. on Fox. Also can be seen on In Plain Sight, Kath & Kim, among other shows. Surpirsingly, this logo has appreared on syndicated episodes of Jerry Springer and Access Hollywood, replacing the NBC Universal Television Distribution logo (it is unknown if they still use this logo, or went back to using the NBC Universal logo). It doesn't appear on USA Network shows anymore (such as Monk), as those get their own logo (for "Universal Cable Productions").

Scare Factor: None.

I have my MythTV set to record Jerry, and yes, they're still using the UMS logo (complete with byline on the new season).
