Touchstone Home Entertainment
Written and compiled by Matt Williams and Kris Starring
Logo Pictures by Eric S. and V of Doom
Background: This is the home entertainment arm of Touchstone Pictures established in 1985 to distribute all Touchstone releases on video.
1st Logo
(1985-1986)
Nickname: "Still Thunderball"
Logo: We see the static image of the early logo of Touchstone Films, only "HOME VIDEO" replaces "FILMS".
FX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Very rare, because it was seen only on early VHS releases of the first Touchstone movies, such as Splash (1984) and My Science Project (1985) among others.
Scare Factor: None. It's very boring.
2nd Logo
(1986-1987)

Nickname: "Flashing Thunderball"
Logo: At the bottom of the screen is a circle beside the words "TOUCHSTONE HOME VIDEO", all made out in 80s computer effects. The text lights up section by section, like a flashlight, and when the 'light' reaches the circle, the circle flashes and the gold stone appears on top.
Variant: On a few videos, this logo was seen with the words "COMING SOON FROM" in blue above the main logo. In addition, the music was slightly sped-up and louder.
FX/Cheesy Factor: The 80s computer effects, the "light" effects.
Music/Sounds: Same as the movie logo
Availability: Rare, only seen on 1986-87 Touchstone videos. Some videos that include this logo are Down and Out In Beverly Hills, Tin Men, and Ruthless People.
Scare Factor: Minimal, elevated to low to medium on the "COMING SOON FROM" version.
3rd Logo
(1987-2002)

Nicknames: "The Snake", "Thunderball Snake"
Logo: Same as the movie logo, only "HOME VIDEO" replaces "PICTURES".
Variants:
FX: Same as the movie logo.
Music/Sounds: Again, same as the movie logo, except it abrubtly stops before the logo actually ends.
Availability: Common, seen on most Touchstone releases, although the HOME ENTERTAINMENT one is extremely rare.
Scare Factor: Low. The ominous nature of the logo might get to people, as well as the twang and electricity effects.
4th Logo
(2002- )
Nickname: "CGI Golden-Light Thunderball"
Logo: Same as the 2002 "Flash" movie logo, only "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" replaces "PICTURES".
FX: Same as the movie logo.
Music/Sounds: Again, same as the movie logo (aka "the Snake music").
Availability: Appears on all current Touchstone releases.
Scare Factor: Low. The dark colors, the flash on the black background combined with the Snake music may get to some.
