Background: Harvey Comics was established in 1939, but didn't use a logo until the comic book publisher entered the animation arena (by purchasing the rights to many of the characters Paramount featured in its cartoon shorts) in 1950. Today, Harvey Entertainment remains currently as an in-name-only unit of Classic Media, a subsidiary of Boomerang Media, L.L.C.

Nicknames: "Harvey-in-the-Box", "Harvey Chapter 1: Harvey the Clown debuts", "The 'H' TV Tube"

Logo: We see a white background, with the letter "
H" in it. Then, we zoom out to reveal the TV tube (ala the first Screen Gems logo) and some Harvey characters and then it pops goes a tube, Harvey the clown appears at the top. We reveal "HARVEY FILMS" in a birthday party lettering. The logo is on a pink, light blue, blue, green or red background. Sometimes, "HARVEY FILMS" turns into "HARVEYTOON". The closing variant of this logo is still. There is another closing variant seen on a few cartoons in which the logo plays in reverse.

Variant: On some Casper cartoons, as well as other cartoons, we see "
HARVEYTOON" in a different lettering instead of "HARVEY FILMS". It was first used in 1990. The logo is on an orange background, plus marking the first appearence of Wendy and Spooky in this logo. There's also confetti falling off of it. Though on cartoon shorts and Modern Madcaps in The Harveytoons Show, it omits the confetti. This variant was last used in 2001.

FX/SFX: The clown popped going a tube.

Music/Sounds: The cartoon theme's open/end.

Availability: Appears on re-issue prints of several pre-1957 Paramount cartoons, replacing the Paramount mountain logo. Paramount may be more visible to replace this logo with the Paramount mountain logo. The closing variant is followed by the 1979 Worldvision Enterprises logo on early-1980s syndicated prints.

Scare Factor: Minimal; the clown in the logo may scare you.



2nd Logo
(1963-1969)

Nicknames:
"Harvey-in-the-Box II", "Harvey Chapter 2: The Sequel"

Logo: Over a black background, we see a TV tube with the letter "H" in it. Then we see Harvey the clown from the Harvey Films logo at the top of the TV tube to reveal "HARVEY FUNNIES" in a same lettering as the Harvey Films logo. This logo is in black and white until 1966.

Variant: There's a color version in which the logo is on a
blue background for some reason. Plus, the color of Harvey the clown and a "H" TV tube is the same used for the Harvey Films logo. The color version debuted in 1966.

FX/SFX: Same as the previous logo.

Music/Sounds: A 8-note comedy tune.

Availability: Extinct. Was originally seen on The New Casper Cartoon Show in black and white (1963-1966) and in color (1966-1969) on ABC.

Scare Factor: Low.



3rd Logo

Nickname: "Harvey Chapter 3: The Return of Harvey the Clown"

Logo: On a black background, we see Harvey the clown, overlapping a yellow seal ala the official Nintendo seal logo. Over the clown is the words "The Harvey Entertainment Company", with "Est. 1939" above "Entertainment Company". Then we see the words:

wiped on the middle-right of the screen. Harvey the clown blinks his eye twice.

Variant: On early episodes of The S
pooktacular New Adventures of Casper, the words "A UNIVERSAL CARTOON STUDIOS PRODUCTION" fades in at the bottom of the screen while Harvey the clown blinking his eye. Music is the Harveytoons logo.

FX/SFX: The company name wiped, the clown blinking.


Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show or movie.

Availability: Originally seen on Casper and The
Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper. The Universal text variant can also be found on early VHS releases of said show. The original variant can be seen on Casper's Haunted Christmas.

Scare Factor: Medium to high; the black background, combined with the loud music could scare lots of people.




4th Logo
(1995-2001)
Harveytoons Opening "Harvey the Clown" (199?)Harveytoons (With Universal Text)

Nickname: "Harvey Chapter 4: The return of the clown"

Logo: We see a blue curtain background, which it then reveal Harvey the clown, and he blinks his eye first. Then we zoom out to reveal the words:


HARVEYTOONS

on the bottom of the screen. The word "
TOONS" takes on the bottom-right of the screen, and it is in blue while "HARVEY" (in red) is on the bottom-left, at the top of the company name the URL appears. Harvey the clown have the words "Est. 1939" under it while he shakes his ear.

Variant: On The S
pooktacular New Adventures of Casper, the words "& A UNIVERSAL CARTOON STUDIOS PRODUCTION" was seen intact in red below the logo. Plus, there is no curtain animation part. There is a yellow light surrounding the logo.

FX/SFX: The clown zoom in, blinking his eye, and the shaked ear.

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous logo.

Availability: Was seen at the end of The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper on syndication, as well on The Harveytoons Show. The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper Volume 1 DVD has the Universal text variant intact.

Scare Factor: Low.




5th Logo
(1999-2001)


Nickname: "Harvey Chapter 5: The clown strikes back"

Logo: On a black background, we see the words "THE HARVEY ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" in
blue and red respectively, scrolling from right to left of the screen. Then we reveal the Harvey Clown trademark, blinking his eye and sticking his tongue out of his mouth. He then takes his place on a yellow seal with "Est. 1939" in a small script. Below it, the words:

reappears. The word "HARVEY" shines brightly twice.

FX/SFX: The company name scrolling, the clown spinning.

The Harvey Films logo is replaced by the Paramount logo when Paramount may be visible to restore the Harveytoon-related shorts.
