1st Logo (UK/US)
(1978-1988)
Nickname: "The White London View/V"
Logo: Against a dark blue background, we see a V, curvy, with two white stripes and a thinner black stripe, turning in sync with the curve, looking like a road. It then pans out, forming a V with lines on the sides, and then an all-white version of a view of London folds up on top of the V. Then "THAMES video" flashes in, placing it on the view of London. The view of London then "shines" on top. After that, the background darkens a little.
Variants:
FX/SFX: The animation in the logo. Pretty cool for 2D effects.
Music/Sounds: An extended synthesized version of the Thames fanfare. The end variant has a synth cord over the logo.
Availability: Seen on tapes from the 1980's that featured programs produced by Thames Television (including The Benny Hill Show, The Sooty Show and Button Moon, just to name a few).
Scare Factor: Medium; the synthesized Thames fanfare and animation with the dark background can scare a few.
2nd Logo (US Only)
(1988-1990s)
Logo : Against a bright red background, two silver beams of light point upwards. The beams then lower to the centre of the screen, one pointing each way. The lights seem to dispell, the background turning a deep blue, and form the words 'THAMES VIDEO COLLECTION', with THAMES coming from the middle, VIDEO from the left, and COLLECTION from the right. The three words set into the middle of the screen as two silver bars appear from both sides, resting at the top and bottom of the wording, with the finishing touch being a black marble version of the famous skyline logo topping the logo.
FX/SFX: The shining lights, the words and the skyline.
Cheesy Factor: The two beams of light look quite bland.
Music/Sounds: A fairly ominous sounding 6 note jingle, with the last few notes held out a bit longer.
Availability: Seen on later Thames Video releases distributed by HBO Video.
Scare Factor: Low to medium. The logo looks fairly harmless but the jingle may unnerve a few people.
2nd Logo (UK Only)
(1988-1992)
Nickname: "CGI Thames"
Logo: On a black background, we see 3 upside down triangles, one in red, another in purple, and the other in yellow, with a view of London and "THAMES VIDEO" on them, merge, revealing a gold version of the logo, then the background turns from black to blue.
FX/SFX: The merging logos revealing the logo.
Music/Sounds: A majestic fanfare, which is the same one as the Thames TV logo from the early 90's. The only difference is that this one has a few added drumbeats.
Availability: Seen on tapes from the era. The best tapes to find with this logo are PAL-format tapes from the UK.
Scare Factor: Low.

Hi.
I have a few additional points to make about the Thames Video logos. 1st Logo(White London View): .Used on tapes up until 1990 .Some tapes had the full ident at the end. Generally the ones released before 1987 .The word "Collection" appeared to be added on tapes released after 1987. .Some tapes had the Video Collection ident included(the earlier one) 2nd Logo(CGI Thames): Introduced in 1991 Most tapes had a still at the end Some tapes played the logo in full at the end On some tapes,the logo played silently with the closing music for the video over the top.

Well, I'm not trying to be like Babylambchop123/SuperLambChop, But the second logo scared me sillier than the first logo, what with the hellacious fanfare and the way the logos merged. Oh, and don't forget the darkness!
