Television Program Enterprises

(1983-1995)
TPE/Rysher Entertainment - CLG Wiki

Nicknames: "TPE", "Streaking TPE"

Logo: On a black background, the letter "T" "streaks" in from the left, "P" from the top, and "E" from the right (80s-style streaks follow these letters). The letters are filled in blue. Above the letters reads "TELEVISION PROGRAM ENTERPRISES" with red lines above and below it, and below "A DIVISION OF TELEREP, INC." with lines in a similar fashion.

Variant: The logo sometimes appeared without animation, in silence.

FX/Cheesy Factor: The "Streaking" in of the letters.

Music: No music, but the music from the show might play thru to this one. The music in the video is from the old WNBC news theme from 1980-1987.

Availability: Were once seen on episodes of Star Search and Lifestyles of the Rich And Famous but TPE distributed shows from this period are probably updated with Rysher or other logos.

Scare Factor: Pretty low; it might look a tad primitive (font-wise), but should be OK.

Rysher Entertainment

1st Logo
(1988-1993)
TPE/Rysher Entertainment - CLG Wiki

Nicknames: "Starry Chyron", "Star Night"

Logo: We see a black/blue gradient background with dozens of stars tingling away. The words "Rysher Entertainment" fade in on the background in a white, generic font. "Rysher" is on top of "Entertainment" with both words centered.

FX/Cheesy Factor: The animation is extremely cheap and reeks of early CGI.

Music: With a pindrop sound, we hear a jazzy saxophone tune that sounds styled to Kenny G.

Availability: Still seen on Saved By the Bell reruns on TBS, The N, in syndication, and on the DVD box sets.

Scare Factor: Low to medium; the cheap animation mixed with the dark background and somber music is not giving this logo a clean slate, but fans of Kenny G might like this logo.

2nd Logo
(1993-)
TPE/Rysher Entertainment - CLG WikiTheatrical version of the Rysher logo.TPE/Rysher Entertainment - CLG WikiTPE/Rysher Entertainment - CLG Wiki

Nicknames: "The Buildings", "CGI City Skyline".

Logo: On the top half of the screen, there is a picture of a city at what appears to be sunset. The sun "sets" and stars and the lights in the city buildings appear, as do the words "RYSHER ENTERTAINMENT". "RYSHER" is in a large extremely condensed Times New Roman-style font and "ENTERTAINMENT" is seen in a smallish font below it. A comet streaks in the city sky as the animation finishes.

Notes:
  • This logo was redone for movies, the notable differences being that the words are now done in CGI and the city and sky look nicer.
  • Around 1996 or so the words "A COX COMPANY" appear beneath the logo.
  • There is another variation read as "RYSHER TPE", with a line under "YSHE".

FX
: The sky fading, the comet

Music: A mellow horn tune plays, with what sounds like a bird screeching at the end of the music. In other cases, it used only the opening/closing theme of the show or TV movie, or it's silent.

Music Variant: A very few number of times, this logo could be heard with the 1988 theme. This is usually heard with the "Cox Company" variant. An extended version of the 1993 music may also show up from time to time.

Availability: Appearing on syndie reruns of Saved by the Bell: The College Years on TBS and The N, and Nash Bridges. And on Nash Bridges reruns, the Paramount logo proceeds after this logo. The Rysher TPE logo is rare, but still remains intact on all 4 episodes of Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style on TBS/The N and appears on the pilot of Robocop: The Series entitled "The Future of Law Enforcement" on VHS. There, the end theme of the show served as the logo's music and the words "Produced in association with" are at the top of the screen.

Scare Factor: None to low; the music is actually quite soothing, but some may be startled by it.
