Background: Scanbox is a Danish home entertainment and production company, although through acquisitions they claimed their presence in other Nordic countries. In 2005, a British distribution arm was created, but was later bought out. The company also formed a short-lived American venture in 1998 with Lionsgate, Sterling Home Entertainment.

Scanbox AS

1st Logo (Denmark)
(1985?-1989?)

Nickname: "SB"

Logo: On a light blue background, a grey rectangle flies in and flips around all over the screen. It then opens up all the way and blue squares and black text come out and the box closes back up. It repositions itself to the left edge of the screen, taking up most of it, as the particle form "sb" in blue and abstract, with the black text saying "scanbox danmark as", as they plaster themselves onto the rectangle. A red and white stripe draw onto the stem of the "b".

FX/SFX: The animation of the rectangle.

Music/Sounds: An "WHOOSH" is heard at the beginning, followed by a funky beat.

Availability
: Extremely rare. Seen on a Danish VHS print of Miracle Mile.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo (Finland)
(1985?-1991?)

Nickname: "SB II", "Creepy SB"

Logo: On a black background, the "sb" from before, but in cyan with a tricolor cyan/yellow/red bar, appears in the top right corner. "scanbox" can also be seen on the left side. The logo slowly moves towards the center, zooming in as it goes. When it reaches it, the logo then quickly zooms in, as we pass through the gap in the letters. It then cuts to the warning screen.

FX/SFX: The logo zooming in.

Music/Sounds: An howling "whoosh" is heard at the beginning. A loud sound of what may be an airplane engine is also heard before it abruptly cuts out.

Availability
: Extremely rare. Seen on Finnish releases.
Editor's Note: The logo eventually zooming towards the screen, along with the creepy and loud sounds and black background, may be enough to give a person chills.

3rd Logo (Denmark)
(1989?-1998)

Nickname: "SB II"

Logo: On a black background, a flash occurs, revealing 2 white monoliths on a sky background. 2 lines are also seen above and fall down as the camera rotates and zooms out, revealing a modified version of the previous logo. "Scanbox Danmark A/S" in the same font as before, zooms out and places itself under the logo as the clouds move slowly.

FX/SFX: The logo forming.

Music/Sounds: A soft soundtrack.

Availability
: Very rare. Seen on later releases.

Editor's Note: None.

Nickname: "The Swan"

Logo: We start on a CGI lake in the moonlight, with clouds above. A swan flies near the lake, circling in the distance, before coming to the center of the screen and landing in the water. The swan emits light as it turns in the water, emitting light and transforming into a stylized yellow swan "S", surrounded by blue and red arcs. "S C A N B O X" is wiped in with lines above and below it underneath.

Trivia: Scanbox's venture with Lionsgate, Sterling Home Entertainment, used the same logo design. When the venture was dismissed, the logo was also changed.

Variant: On the trailer for Komodo, the logo is
copper on green light background.

FX/SFX: The animation of water and swan, pretty good for the years.

Music/Sounds: An Oriental-esque woodwind tune with synthesizers and whooshes.

Availability
: Seen on distributed DVDs. Also available outside Nordic region on a few films.

Editor's Note: None.

FX/SFX: The logo forming.

Music/Sounds: A crystallized soundtrack.
