Editions by mr3uriousLogo captures and videos courtesy of PalaceRoadshowRoadshow Home Video1st (known) Logo
(1982-c. 1986)
Logo: On a space background, a blue outline of Australia with the Tasmania island below zooms out from the bottom of the screen to the center with a "light trail" effect. "Roadshow", in a very strange yellow font, appears via "scanning" effect in pieces shooting out from the Australia while "Home Video" in yellow zooms out below "Roadshow". "Roadshow" flashes really brightly as an announcer says, "Welcome to Roadshow Home Video.".
Variants: There are a lot of variants for this logo.
- After the logo, "Sneak previews from our catalogue", in yellow, appears and zooms out into the Australia as the announcer says, "Before the movie, we would like to show you previews of some of our films.".
- Same as the above variation, but no announcer. "Home Video" and "Sneak previews from our catalogue" are also in red instead of yellow.
- There would be just "Roadshow" and no "Home Video", announcer, or "Sneak previews".
- There would be no announcer or "Sneak previews".
- The usual would happen, except no "Home Video", announcer, or "Sneak previews", but after "Roadshow" flashed, the animation would reverse onto the Australia and "The Australian Company" in yellow would appear via a flashing effect below "Roadshow".
- On very early tapes, the same thing would happen, except "Home Video" in red zooms in below "Roadshow" and zooms out into the Australia as "Roadshow" reverses onto the Australia. After an introductory scroll, the opening animation is repeated, but it freeze-frames when the Australia hits the usual position. "Sneak previews from our catalogue" in red zooms out just as the freeze frame begins.
FX: The scanning, flashing, and zooming.
Cheesy Factor: Really dated effects, and the font is ugly.
Music: A calm synthesized horn and piano fanfare.
Availability: Seen on Australian tapes in the early 80's, including "First Blood", "Mad Max", "Gallipoli", and "The Terminator".
Scare Factor: Low; the font and announcer can scare some people, but that's NOTHING compared to the next logo...
2nd Logo
(c. 1986-Early 90's)
Logo: On a black background 3 stylized, separate, golden "V"s are formed by yellow flashing effects from the right side. 3 more are formed, filling the gaps. The result is a giant "V" or a triangle comprised of 6 progressively smaller "V"s. The giant "V" zooms out a little, and "ROADSHOW HOME VIDEO" in white zooms in below the "V". The "V" shines, and yellow "lasers" appear from the left and right sides of the screen. The lasers overlap under "ROADSHOW HOME VIDEO" and turn into "VILLAGE ROADSHOW CORPORATION".
Variants:
- After the logo forms, a page turning like effect reveals "Sneak previews from our movies in brown and white".
- The logo starts out like the 1st logo, with the Australia outline, but then fades into this logo as an announcer says, "In the Australian tradition, Roadshow Home Video brings you a 6-pack, the Aussie 6-pack. In this, our bicentennial year, for only $19.88 each, you can have in your home library, six of the all-time greatest Australian movies."
- There was also a cinema variant which featured only in Australian cinemas bearing the Village brand name
FX: The yellow flashes, lasers, and shining.
Cheesy Factor: See above.
Music: A very loud, dramatic synth stinger, basically.
Availability: Seen on Australian tapes in the late 80's.
Scare Factor: Medium to high; the music and "in your face" effects can scare a lot of people. The announcer variation is slightly less scary, because his voice overlaps the music.

Availability: Seen on Australian tapes of the period.
Scare Factor: None; this is much tamer than before.
