Background: Relic is a strategy game developer founded in Vancouver in 1997, famous for their successful Warhammer 40,000 series. Relic was bought by THQ in 2004 and sold to Sega on January 22, 2013 as part of THQ's bankruptcy.


1st Logo Relic Entertainment (2001)
(September 28, 1999)

Logo
: We rise up by a chain holding an ancient underwater mine. The logo is placed on a metal plate on its side. Then it zooms out to show the mine itself floating in the deep.

FX/SFX: Animation in the logo, which looks amateur.

Music/Sounds: A somber underwater soundtrack.

Variant: On the demo version, just the still banner appeared.

Availability: Seen on Homeworld.

2nd Logo Relic Entertainment (2004)
(January 7, 2003-March 11, 2010)

Logo
: Same action as before, but accurately redone with great details. The water also looks greenish.

FX/SFX: Animation in the logo, much better now.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 1st logo.

Variant: Later, the animation was slightly altered. The animation missed first seconds, was sped-up and lost green tint to look more similar to the 1st logo.

Availability: Seen on Impossible Creatures, Homeworld 2 and Warhammer 40,000 - Dawn of War. Sped-up variant seen on Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2.

: The Relic logo banner appeared over the hot rocks, emitting fire sparks, as we pan over.

FX/SFX: The whole animation in the logo.

Music/Sounds: Fire and blasting sounds.

Availability: Seen on Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine.
