Random House Home Video

Nickname: "Cheesy House", "The House", "The Random House", "Rainbow House", "Rainbow Random House"
Logo: On a purple/black gradient background, six rainbow-colored lines are drawn onto the screen by light rays, in different directions. The lines sharply angle around 45 degrees near the edge of the screen. As the lines begin to finish drawing, the parts of a stylized house begin to slide onto the screen at the area where the lines suddenly slope. The rainbow and the house zoom out as the rainbow begins to retract. The sloped section disappears completely, and a diagonal beam of light draws a sharp black outline around the house and the rainbow (in other cases, it's that of their corporate logo of Random House, publisher of most notably the Dr. Seuss books). The word "RANDOM HOUSE" fades in underneath the rainbow/house combo, and the words "HOME VIDEO" zoom in from the center.
FX: The rainbow effects, the sliding houses, the formation of the company name.
Cheesy Factor: ...Where do I start...? First, the rainbow lines are cheaply done. They're not even of the same width! Second, the sliding on of the house like construction paper blows. Third, the zooming out of "HOME VIDEO" brings back bad memories of the "A Viacom Presentation" text on the videotaped version of the "Killer V"/"V of Doom".
Music/Sounds: A synthesized piece of music that ends with a "chime" sound as "HOME VIDEO" zooms out.
Availability: Seen mostly on educational videos based on Random House properties. It can still be seen on videos of "Arthur" and "The Berenstain Bears". Some DVDs still have this logo. Until 1995, the print logo had no color, when in 1995, the print logo was in color.
Scare Factor: Low; the cheapness of the logo (a la Playhouse Video) may scare some people off.

I honestly don't know how people could be scared of the Random House, unless they had bad memories of a certain Mr. V of Doom. To me, this brings back memories of old Sesame Street and Dr. Seuss videos, which I remember seeing this logo on. I'm actually pretty fond of this logo for all its cheesiness. Anyone else share my thoughts?

I saw the RHHV logo and I saw it, the text is more cursive (except for the "n"), and is over a box,
half black, half hite, with a set of TV antennae. The text "Home Video" is below. The text comes out from the right and stops as the text spins out. Everything is the same, except that the house has a chimney pot to it this time.
