Background: Quinn Martin opened his own production company as Quinn Martin Productions (a.k.a. QM Productions) in 1960 to produce various sucessful TV shows during the 1960s and 1970s. All his series were known for their highly stylized format: a prologue featuring a stern-voice narrator to establish the premise; explicitly announced Acts I, II, III, and IV; and an epilogue, again featuring the narrator. In 1979, a group of investors acquired this company and subsequently sold it finally to Taft Broadcasting Co., closing definitively in 1983. Nowdays, all the QM library, with some exceptions (The F.B.I. and Banyon are currently owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment, and 12 O'Clock High is currently owned by 20th Television), is currently held by CBS Corporation, thru Republic Entertainment, Inc., and distributed on TV by CBS Television Distribution.
