Background: Playmates Interactive Entertainment (or PIE for short) was a videogame publishing division of Playmates Toys, operated since 1994 to 1998.
1st Logo
(1994-1996)
Logo: We see an electric lamp trying to light on. Finally it lights, but the light suddenly moves and escapes from the bulb, and the lamp turns to stone. There's a hollow on the lamp's surface that making it very similar to a Death Star. The word PROLIFIC in 3D font zooms in and the lamp turns black and white.
FX/SFX: None.
Variants:
- On Earthworm Jim, the Shiny Entertainment logo is seen alongside the Playmates logo with Presents below. This variant can also on Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2 for GBA, surprisingly.
- On Earthworm Jim 2 for SNES, the logo has the water animation below.
- An improved quality version was seen in a trailer for Into the Void.

2nd Logo
(1996-1998)


Logo: In the down right corner of the screen, three circles open one-after-one. Then a more powerful ring opens, which is orange, and a flood of particles appear from the ring. Menawhile the background becomes purple, and the words
PLAYMATES INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT fly in as a circle and take their place. The
PIE letters zoom in, and the background clears to white.
FX/SFX: All the animation.
Variants:
- A still version exists.
- This logo is shown on the top right corner along with the Neversoft Entertainment logo on the top left, The Landmark Entertainment Group logo on the bottom left, and the Tommy Tallarico Studios logo on the bottom right and the Skeleton Warriors logo in the middle on Skeleton Warriors.
- This logo is also shown on the top right corner along with the Neversoft Entertainment logo on the top left, the Tommy Tallarico Studios logo on the bottom left and the Shiny Entertainment logo on the bottom right on the Playstation version of MDK, which is before the animated logo described above.
Music/Sounds: Synth note, followed by a rings opening sounds, the flying sounds (like an aerated water) and three jackhammer hits (as PIE appears). None for the still versions.
Availability: Seen on
Duckman, MDK, Alien Earth and other games. Still version can be found on earlier games like
Powerslave.
