(Early 1980s)
Nickname: "Pink Cursive", "Laser Circle"
Logo: Against a black background, lights wipe in the words "Playaround Video", with "Playaround" in a cursive font, and "Video" in Eurostile font, both colored
lilac pink. A couple of stars blink on the logo, which then zooms out, and another light draws in a pink circle, with the text now on the bottom of the circle when it finishes. After it finishes, a flash can be seen and the logo shines all over.
Variant: At the end of tapes, the logo is completely still, surrounded by a bright aura.
FX: The lights wiping in the text, the circle drawing, the logo shining... pretty much '80s computer effects, although it's not too bad.
Music/Sounds: A burbly synth sound, then a synth-keyboard tune that sounds like the old Oregon Educational PBS (now Oregon Public Broadcasting) jingle, complete with a "twinkle" as the circle is drawn, and then, one final laser zap sound.
Availability: On old PBV tapes. This was used mainly for horror films, from what I've seen.
Scare Factor: Low to medium for the animated variant, because of the way the logo looks, along with the music, and none for the still variant. But this is a favorite of mine, actually.
