1st Logo (June-July 1990)
Nickname: "The Neon Sign"
Logo: You first see a black screen; then you hear footsteps, then a light switch is flipped on, revealing a neon light sign that is in the shape of the Nickelodeon Studios sign.
FX/SFX: The logo seems animated.
Music/Sounds: The electric sound of the sign.
Availability: Very rare; only used once during 1990 during Nickelodeon's first opening period (Between June-July) when the logo was featured on a tour tape.
Scare Factor: Minimal.
2nd Logo (July 1990-2000)
Nickname: "The Ride View"
Logo: We see a realistic coloring, looking like it was done with a colored pencil, of the side view of the front of Nickelodeon Studios, including the slime fountain. Then it fades to the front of everything. You can even see the Universal Globe.
FX/SFX: The coloring seems to be "animated".
Music/Sounds: An announcer saying "[TITLE OF SHOW] was/is recorded in front of a live (studio) audience at Nickelodeon Studios (in Orlando) at Universal Studios (Orlando), Florida.". On some shows, like GUTS, the ending of the show's theme, with the announcer speaking.
Availability: Rare; extinct on Nickelodeon and Noggin (except for TurboNick). Can be seen on almost any show recorded from Nickelodeon Studios in the early '90s like Nick Arcade, What Would You Do?, and Nickelodeon GUTS, among others. This can be also seen on any Nick Jr. show recorded from Nickelodeon Studios, including Gullah Gullah Island and Allegra's Window. Seen on Gullah Gullah Island when it is reran on Noggin. It is currently seen on TurboNick.
Scare Factor: None.
3rd Logo (1991-2005)
Nickname: "Ride View II" Logo: Same as the 2nd logo, but it's live action instead.
Variants:
There was a variation on Kenan & Kel, All That, Allegra's Window, and Legends of the Hidden Temple that showed the Nickelodeon sign on top of the core production building before cutting to the scene with Nickelodeon Studios and the Universal Globe.
There may be a copyright notice on the bottom.
On Clarissa Explains it All, we zoom out from the Nickelodeon sign on the core building, then we see the slime geyser, before finally zooming out to the scene with Nick Studios and the Universal Globe.
FX/SFX: Live action, so none at all. Music/Sounds: Same as Logo 2. Availability: This logo appeared on some shows prior to 1995, such as Get the Picture, but didn't become the main logo until 1995. Also seen on TurboNick. All episodes of the Clarissa Explains it All Season 1 DVD retain this logo. Scare Factor: None.
