Background: Neversoft Entertament is an American video game developer founded in 1994 by Joel Jewett, Mick West and Chris Ward. Neversoft is best recognized for their line of Tony Hawk skatebording games. In October 1999, it was acquired by Activision. In 2007, Neversoft became the developer of Guitar Hero series when Harmonix was aquired by MTV. It's first game was Skeleton Warriors for Playstation and Sega Saturn. Since 2008, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground was the last Tony Hawk game developed by Neversoft as the development of the series is moved to Robomodo.

1st Logo
(1994-1999)

Nickname: "The Egyptian Eagle"

Logo: On a black background, we see a brown/purple gradient bricked triangle with the eagle like symbol on it. The words, "NEVERSOFT ENTERTAINMENT" are above and below the symbol respectively like in a circle effect.

Variants:

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availibility: Seen on Skeleton Warriors for PSX, and Saturn. Also appears on PSX versions of MDK, and Apocalypse.

Scare Factor: Minimal.

Nicknames: "The Eyeball," "The Fading Text," "Neversoft Eyeball"

Logo: First, we see the eyeball posed as an "O" with the spear sticking across it with it's tentacle twirled around it fades in, then, the "NEVERSOFT" text (A text in a grunge font and colored orange, yellow, and red with lines above a below it respectively) appears a few seconds later while the eyeball looks around, then the website URL, www.neversoft.com appears below. Then the eyeball resumes to it's normal position then the text slowly fades away. Then the eyeball fades out.

Variants:
  • On the PSX version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, the gum like stuff are under the eyeball. Plus, the logo is in the center.
  • On the Pizza Hut demo version of the game, the website URL appears the same time the "NEVERSOFT" text fades in.
  • On the demo version of the Dreamcast version, there is a still version of the logo.
  • There is a still artwork version of the logo that can be seen on the N64 version of the game. Plus the webside URL is gone.

FX/SFX: The text appearing, the eyeball looking around.

Music/Sounds: A rock guitar like music. On the N64 version, it's the opening theme of the game.

Availabilty: Seen on the orignal Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Also appears on the Dreamcast version of the game.

Scare Factor: Low, unless if the Eyeball scares you.


3rd Logo (THPS2/Spider-Man Variant)

Nicknames: "The Moving Eyeball," "Falling Letters," "Neversoft Eyeball II"

Logo: We see an eyeball walking then one by one on the bottom line, then a "T" comes crashing into the line and the eyeball notices it. Then the "F" comes crashing in as well, shocking the eyeball. Then the eyeball runs to the left and the "N" comes crashing in blocking it's way shocking the eyeball again. Then the eyeball runs to the right as the rest of the letters, from "E" to "S" come crashing down forming "NEVERSOFT" and the eyeball goes where the "O" should be, then the top line falls on the text and the eyeball, then we zoom out to reveal the whole logo done with the website URL in the same font from the previous logo. Then the eyeball looks around and feels exhausted. Then a spear shoots down into the eyeball with it's tentacle twirling around it causing the text to jump to form it's normal position with the URL shaking the same time.

Variants:
  • Spider-Man: Spider-Man's symbol iris, zooms into the eyeball with the red background. Then the eyeball turns blue and fades out. Also, the website URL appears shaking when the spear shoots down across the eyeball. Also, the logo is a bit darker.
  • Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2: A red skateboard crashes through the logo, breaking it and making the eyeball fly to the left leaving only the website URL. Then it fades out. On the PSX version, the website URL fades out a few seconds later.
FX/SFX: The eyeball running, the letters falling and a splat sound when the spear shoots into the eyeball.

Music/Sounds: Silent at the beginning. Then a rock note when the first three letters fell. Then another rock music. Then two last notes play after a spear hits the eyeball. On the Spider-Man variant, if you listen closely at the beginning, you can hear the sounds of the eyeball moving.

Music/Sound Variant: On Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, there were sound effects for the eyeball and a spear.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 & Spider-Man (The 2000 game). The THPS2 variant also appears on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x for Xbox.

Scare Factor: Low, unless if you're scared of the eyeball. The Spider-Man variant could scare a few.


4th Logo (THPS3 Variant)

Nicknames: "The Eyeball Skater," "Neversoft Eyeball III"

Logo: We see the Neversoft logo with the eyeball as an "O" and the body of the skateboarder on a dark ground with the skateboard. Then the eyeball looks down and jumps into the skateboarder's body. Then it stands up and flips the skateboard with it's feet for couple of seconds. Then it tries to skate, but it falls down casing the eyeball to get off it, then it runs to the right then it jumps to get back on the logo. Then a spear shoots down into the eyeball with it's tentacle twirling around it.

Variant: On some versions, the logo fades out shortly after the spear sticks into the eyeball.

FX/SFX: The skater flipping, the falling, a splat sound when the spear shoots into the eyeball.

Music/Sounds: A rock music which ends when the spear shoots into the eyeball. It's actually a music that was heard on one of the Neversoft bails videos on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.

Scare Factor: Low to median, unless if the eyeball scares you.


5th Logo (THPS4 Variant)

Nicknames: "The Gorilla Skater," "Neversoft Eyeball IV"

Logo: We see the Neversoft logo without the eyeball in it. Then a gorilla appears skating on the skateboard on the ground from the previous logo but it's a little brighter then before. Then it does tricks, then it gets off and sits down. Then it looks around then it pulls something out through his nose, then it turns out to be the eyeball. Then the gorilla throughs the eyeball into the logo. Then the eyeball sits in the logo as an "O". Then a spear shoots into the eyeball with it's tentacle twirling around it as the gorilla looks at the logo.

FX/SFX: The gorilla skating, the eyeball coming out and a splat sound when the spear shoots into the eyeball.

Music/Sounds: Some jungle music which seuges into a short version of music from the previous logo when the eyeball appears.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.

Scare Factor: Low to median, unless if the eyeball scares you.


6th Logo (THUG Variant)

Nicknames: "The Sewer Mutant Attack," "The Dark Alley," "Neversoft Eyeball V"

Logo: We see Eric Sparrow skating down an alley at night. Stopping in front of a manhole, a sewer mutant, T.H.U.D. bursts from the manhole frightening Eric off his board. T.H.U.D. then drags Eric into the manhole, and Eric's bones fly out moments after. The Neversoft logo then appears as the eyeball bounces out as the background fades into a white background. Then the eyeball goes into the "O" and a spear shoots into the eyeball with it's tentacle twirling around it. The logo is in black in white.

FX/SFX: Eric Sparrow skating, the sewer mutant bursting out, the dragging into the sewer, his bones flying out and a splat sound when the spear shoots into the eyeball.

Music/Sounds: Some creepy music with sounds.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's Underground.

Scare Factor: Medium to High, A sewer mutant can catch you off guard, and if you're scared of the eyeball.


7th Logo (THUG2 Variant)

Nicknames: "The UFO Attack On The Beach," "Neversoft Eyeball VI"

Logo: We start out with the black screen. Then we see an eyeball spraying the custom Neversoft logo graffiti with spraying can. Then we zoom out to reveal the logo which takes place on the beach. Then, a UFO comes in and tries to shoot the eyeball, but the eyeball dodges as the UFO destroys the custom Neversoft logo causing the smoke to appear to reveal the regular Neversoft logo. Then the UFO shoots the eyeball sending it flying up and into the logo posed as an "O". Then a spear shoots into the eyeball with it's tentacle twirling around it. Then the background fades into black.

FX/SFX: The spraying of the can, the UFO shooting, and a splat sound when the spear shoots into the eyeball.

Music/Sounds: A beach sound with sounds of spraying can and the UFO.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's Underground 2. Also appears on Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix for PSP.

Scare Factor: Low to median, the UFO shooting can catch you off guard and unless if you're scared of the eyeball.


8th Logo
(2005)

Nicknames: "The Hand-Drawn Neversoft"

Logo: Several paper fragments fall onto a white surface, each with a letter in various styles. Two cartoon hands appear and arrange the fragments to make the word NEVERSOFT. Then the hand draws an eye for letter O. The background changes to black, and PRESENTS is drawn below. After this, the picture moves off to show the game intro.

FX/SFX: The cartoon-style animation of drawing.

Music/Sounds: Some kind of rock music, which is a part of game intro. There are also scribbling sounds.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

Scare Factor: Low, this time the eyeball is not very scary, so it's mainly due to the music.


9th Logo
(2005)

Logo: We can see the skull lying in a desert. The sepia-toned Neversoft logo is revealed gradually, then PRESENTS appears below in the same way. The logo then disappears and the game intro proceeds.

FX/SFX: The logo revealing.

Music/Sounds: Grinding sounds with a wind.

Avalibility: Seen on Gun.

Scare Factor: Low.



10th Logo
(2006)

Nickname: "The Skating Alien"

Logo:
We see the moon. The camera moves to the ground, where the projector lights the place. Some drops fall from above, then falls the big-headed alien. He recovers slowly, stands on, catches a skateboard and starts to play tricks. The projector flashes with various colors, like in a disco hall. The actions zooms through an eyeball of the Neversoft logo, which hangs still for a little.

FX/SFX: The whole animation.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Avalibility: Seen on Tony Hawk's Project 8.

Scare Factor: Low to Median, the alien monster is not a usual show and can be frightening.



11th Logo
(2007)

Logo:
The familiar eye skates down the street, standing on a skateboard by his "tail". He make tricks and jumps over obstaces, but misses one and takes a flight. Then the eye gets threaded onto a spear sticking from the pavement. The word Neversoft appears, and the threaded eye is already in its place.

FX/SFX: The whole animation.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Avalibility: Appears on Tony Hawk's Proving Ground.

Scare Factor: Low to Median.




12th Logo
(2007)

Logo: First we can see somebody's hand adjusting an equalizer. Then the camera shows the rocker uttering on the scene. He stands on a word Neversoft drawn on the scene. When the rocker raises his head, we can see he has an eyeball instead of it. Everything else disappears and the eye takes its place between another letters. The spear falls, sticking the eye. The logo dissolves.

FX/SFX: The whole animation.

Music/Sounds: Hard rock tune.

Avalibility: Seen on Guitar Hero 3.

Scare Factor: Low to Median.

Logo: We see the short close-ups of the scene artists. One of the fragments gets zoomed into an eyeball. The letters from NEVERSOFT fly to their places, while the eye watches at various directions. The spear appears, the eye twines it with the tail.

FX/SFX: The whole animation.

Music/Sounds: Hard rock tune, which ceases quickly.

Avalibility: Seen on Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Scare Factor: Low to Median, due to the metal music and action.
