Background: Originally known as Kalato Ltd., this company debuted in 1982 as a joint venture between Mike Young and John Parkinson to produced animated series for children. When Mike Young obtained full control of the company in 1998, he renamed it Mike Young Productions. Since 2006, it is part of the MoonScoop Group.
1st Logo
(1999-2006)
Nickname: "The Spinning Signature"
Logo: On a black background, we see a yellow circle slowly rotating to face us, with a spotlight shining on it. Over a circle is Mike Young's name in blue script, and below it is "PRODUCTIONS", also in blue.
Variant: The logo may appear more zoomed in on some shows.
FX: The spinning logo.
Music/Sounds: A southern music riff. In some cases, the closing theme of the show.
Availability: Appears on the He-Man remake, Pet Alien on Cartoon Network, and Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks on PBS Kids Sprout. Also appears on The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (1999).
Scare Factor: Low.
2nd Logo
(2000-2003)
Logo: In the ending credits, the text in the series type font would appear superimposed at the end reading "PRODUCED IN ASSOCIATION WITH MIKE YOUNG PRODUCTIONS".
FX: Seen on end credits with cut screens and fading pictures.
Music/Sounds: Sometimes the ending theme finished over it.
Availability: Common; can be seen on Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS Kids and PBS Kids Sprout.
Scare Factor: None.
3rd Logo
(2006- )
Nickname: "The MoonScoop Crescent"
Logo: On a white background, we have the name "Mike Young Productions" on a yellow crescent moon with the name "Mike Young" in the usual signature. Underneath the logo is a byline reading "A MoonScoop Company".
FX: None; it's a still logo.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Appears on various shows, included Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks and Pet Alien (currently available on Kabillion On Demand) from the later seasons.
Scare Factor: None.
