Background: Lucasfilm Limited is a company founded by George Lucas.

1st Logo

(1977-1988)
Lucasfilm, Ltd. - CLG WikiLucasfilm Limited - CLG Wiki

Nickname: "Simple Text"

Logo: On a black background, some neon green text reads:

A
LUCASFILM LIMITED
Production

Variant: This logo would often be shown in different languages, depending on the country. This may or may not be in all-caps.

FX/Cheesy Factor: None; it's a still logo.

Music/Sounds: It would have the 2nd half of the 20th Century Fox fanfare.

Availability: This was only seen on the FIRST theatrical releases of Star Wars movies 4-6. It was also seen on pre-1997 home video releases of those films. Sadly, post-1997 prints of them now use the 3rd logo. However, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released pre-1997 prints of those films on DVD for a limited period of time in 2006.

Scare Factor: Low, but for some, it depends on the fanfare generally on how loudly and "poorly" composed it is.

2nd Logo
(1988-1997)

Nickname: "CGI Logo Shining"

Logo: On a black background, we see some green text that reads:
Lucasfilm, Ltd. - CLG Wiki
A
LUCASFILM
Ltd
PRODUCTION

The text is written in a fancy Art Deco font.

FX: None.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 1st logo.

Availability: Seen on Lucasfilm produced films from the era. Same as above, it was replaced by the 3rd logo.

Scare Factor: Low.

3rd Logo
(1997- )

Nickname: "Logo Shining"

Logo: On a black background, we see some green text that reads:
Lucasfilm, Ltd. - CLG Wiki
LUCASFILM
Ltd

The text is written in a fancy Art Deco font. As it shines, the text changes color to gray and then to gold.

Variant: On Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the 2008 TV series), the logo is sped up.

FX: The shining and color-changing effects.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 1st logo. On TV shows by Lucasfilm, it would have Star Wars-like sounds. On The Colne Wars (the 2008 movie), there is Clone Trooper banter.

Availability: Originally seen on Star Wars episodes 1-3 and post-1997 prints of episodes 4-6. It's very likely to be common on every single installment of the Star Wars film saga. Can be seen on the new Indiana Jones movie.

Scare Factor: None.
