Background: Founded by Stephen J. Friedman and named after a street in West Hollywood where he lived. Most of the Kings Road catalog, with some exceptions, is held by Lionsgate.

1st Logo
(September 21, 1984-1995)

Nickname: "The Drawing Double Lines"

Logo: On a black background, we see double lines drawing 5 1/2 times. After it's done drawing, it draws a curve, to extend the "R" in "ROAD". "KINGS ROAD" appears above the lines, then PRODUCTIONS appears under "KINGS". The lines then disappear, and the 1/2 area of double lines extend as the "R".

FX/SFX: The drawing.

Variant: There's a blue version with ENTERTAINMENT instead of PRODUCTIONS.

Music/Sounds: None, or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare. Appears on All of Me, The Best of Times, The Big Easy, Knights, and Kickboxer, among others. On recent prints of Kickboxer 2, the Lionsgate logo plasters it, while recent prints of Kickboxers 3 and 4 have the logo plastered with the 3rd Lions Gate logo. It is unknown if either logo appeared on U.S. Theatrical Prints of When the Wind Blows, as it's removed on the 1988 IVE VHS of the film and the 2014 Twilight Time Blu-Ray.

Editor's Note: None.
