Background: Kids Klassics was a children's division of Goodtimes Home Video. It was known for distributing some Hanna-Barbera videos and even some low-budget public domain cartoon tapes.
(1982-1995)
Nickname: "The Theater"
Logo: On a blue background, we see a gold theater-like sign with "KIDS KLASSICS" on it, which shimmers with changing colors throughout. On some VHS releases, "HOME VIDEO" (in gold serif text or white sans serif text) fades in under it. Sometimes, "PRESENTS" fades in below "HOME VIDEO".
Variant: On the "Kids Sing Along" series, the logo would disappear via a page turning effect to reveal "presents" in a metallic font, which would turn away again to reveal the "Kids Sing Along" title card.
FX: The shimmering colors.
Cheesy Factor: The logo looks pretty cheesy, but not as primitive as some other logos of the time.
Music/Sounds: On the TV variant, an overly synthesized tune is heard. On the video variant, a boom is heard with a "whoosh" and then some synth notes. Sometimes, it is silent or has a lush orchestrated theme. On one occasion, after the logo appears, men chant "KIDS KLASSICS PRESENTS!". The "Kids Sing Along" variant uses a different synth fanfare.
Availability: Rare; seen on tapes from the era.
Scare Factor: Low to high for the male voice variant, low to medium for the overly synthesized jingle, low for the "HOME VIDEO" music variant, and minimal for the silent and orchestral variant.
