Background: KWSU is the PBS station affiliate located in Pullman, Washington, owned and operated by Washington State University.

1st (known) Logo
(April 9th, 1976)

WARNING: Do not watch the video if you are prone to epilepsy. This logo also contains loud, harsh music, so if you are not prone to epilepsy, turn down your volume.

Nicknames: "Static Squiggly Lines", "Flashy Public Television"

Logo: On a black background, blue static fills the screen while a pink set of outlines revolve around the middle. As the static shrinks to the middle, the text then revolves into the pink text "KWSU" in Stop font, with "presents" fading in below in ITC Avant Garde Gothic. The logo then briefly disappears before compressing into the background, with "presents" wiping away.

FX/SFX: The lines forming, the fading, and the squeezing.

Music/Sounds: A loud weird synthesized tune, which sounds like a game over screen in an arcade game or something from the 70s.

Availability: VERY extinct. Only known to have appeared on Heart - The Second Ending Live At KWSU. It is preserved on the Blu Ray release.

Editor's Note: The effects and droning music in this logo make it unlike anything used by other public TV stations at the time (even WGBH). What's more peculiar is that this logo seemed to be used well into the 1990's, at least in speculation after the discovery of the 2nd and 3rd logos. However, the claims are seemingly false.

2nd Logo
(1983-19??)

Logo: On a sky bluebackground, a baby blueline draws across the screen. It then draws down and to the right, sprouting the text "KWSU" from it. The line retracts when it finishes and "A PRESENTATION OF" slides out of it from the top, while "PULLMAN, WA" slides out of the bottom

FX/SFX: The word drawing in.

Music/Sounds: A funky trumpet tune with an electric piano.

Availability: More common than the last, but still very rare. It appeared on Grass Roots Journal and other local programming.

Editor's Note: None.

3rd Logo
(1987-1994?)

Logo: On a striped background, we see the words "PRESENTATION", all capitalized and bold, in which then, we see the words "A" and "of" being written on-screen in cursive before flashing into "KWSU Public TELEVISION", with "Public" displayed in cursive as well and angled.

Variant: An variant that ends with the text "You're Informed,"(with "You're" in the cursive font, and "Informed" in the bolded font), exists but it is unknown how the rest of the logo plays out as the video it was seen on starts with that end card.

FX/SFX: The words written, along with the flash. Standard effects for the era.

Music/Sounds: A crystal-like 80's piano jingle (with the notes rising and looping), with a futuristic-sounding ZAP! during the flash.

Availability: Very rare. All variants seen on Counterpoint.

Editor's Note: None.

4th Logo
(1994-2003)

KWSUlogo2000s
Logo: On a lavender background, a few rectangles are seen quickly sliding in, having the words "a production of" and "M E D I A", with the one of the centre having no text. Then theword "KWSU" flips in a similar font on the rectangle, with a golden color.

FX/SFX: The word KWSU flipping in.

Music/Sounds: A whoosh is heard, followed by 2 horn notes, with the last being held out for longer.

Availability: Very rare. Appeared on WSU Presents.

Editor's Note: None.

4th Logo
(2003-2006)

Logo: On a grey background, a red line draws across the screen, which flips up to reveal a red/white rectangle with a red outline. On the red section is "KWSU & KTNW" in white and "Public Television" is seen in grey on the white section. As it shines, the text "A Production of" appears with a red aura.

FX/SFX: The bar flipping in.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Availability: Very rare. This, and the 3 above logos, appeared in the 50th anniversary video.

Editor's Note: None.
