Background: This was the movie production arm of Island Records active from 1982 to 1998.

Logo: On a black background, we see a silhouette of two palm trees inside a circle. Under it there is a line, and the words "ISLAND" and "PICTURES" on a paradise-like font.

Variant: A early variant existed back in the Island Alive days.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: Silent, or the opening theme of the film.

Availability: Not all that rare. Can be found on Slam Dance and the 2005 MGM DVD of Nobody's Fool. The earlier variant from the Island Alive days, is rare, however.

Scare Factor: None.



2nd Logo

Logo: On a black background, we see a purple silhouette of a palm tree, changing to white as a red to yellow gradient sun slowly rises behind it. The word "ISLAND" fades in under the palm tree.

Later Variant: Starting in 1997, the byline "Just off the coast of PolyGram" (with the name of the company in their old font, and all the byline in script font) appeared under the company's name.

FX/SFX: The sun rising, the letters fading.

Music/Sounds: The sounds of the ocean, or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare; seen on How to Be a Player and The Gingerbread Man.

Scare Factor: None.
