2nd Logo
(1989-1999) Normal Logo
Note: This was the first of ITV's generic logos, which varied for each ITV franchise it was shown on.
Nickname: "ITV Generic"
Logo: On a black background, a "river" of colors is seen. Below it is the franchise name in italics and on top of the river is the franchise's logo. The logo wavers and disperses into the river one-by-one as various images of ITV programs fly by from right to left. One by one in the river, the letters "ITV" appear, in sync with the music. The "V" is cut in half and a triangle appears where the other half should be. In the triangle lies part of the franchise's logo. The river fades out.Variants: - On occasion, the default logo would be used, in which there would be no franchise name displayed at the bottom.
- Yorkshire Television used a variant in which the triangular section of the V was replaced by their chevron logo. It would zoom forth as "ITV" faded away.
- ITV logos had been developed for use by TVS, TSW, Ulster, Anglia, and Channel Television, but they were never used.
- On ITV airings of the Canadian children's programme OWL TV, the owl who was the mascot for the programme flies into the screen, causing glass to break. After the glass breaks, a logo on a black background is revealed with the triangle from the ITV logo of the time on top, taking much of the center of the screen. Below the triangle is the words "THAMES TELEVISION PRODUCTION FOR" with the ITV logo below the words.
- Various shapes from the other company's logos appeared in the triangle.
Anglia Television: The light blue and blue colors, and 2 yellow triangles.
Border Television: The light blue and blue colors once more.
Central Television: The rainbow colors in the "CGI Cake". There is also a variation with an announcer saying "You're in the center of the ITV network, along with the other company's logo music playing, with the ITV ident and the Central ident playing on a gray background.
Channel Television: Yellow and light blue.
Granada: Purple and yellow.
HTV (West, Wales, Cyrmu Wales): Light blue, blue, and white.
London Weekend Television: Red, white, gray, and blue.
Scottish Television: Various shades of blue.
Television South West: Various shades of green, and light blue.
Thames: Purple, and the castle logo of the time.
TVS: Same as HTV.
Tyne Tees: Yellow and blue.
Ulster: Blue, white, and yellow.
Yorkshire Television: Purple and yellow.
FX/SFX: The "River" and the ghost-like appearances of the images.
Cheesy Factor: The wavering of the franchise logo looks rather fake, but everything else looks clean.
Music/Sounds: A rather airy synthesized flute theme that culminates in a 5-note trumpet fanfare, often with the flute echoing at the end. Composed by David Dundas as an ITV jingle. A continuity announcement may be used, as well.
Availability: Extinct; it was only used as a channel ID. This was actually a generic ITV logo modified by the network to feature the franchise logo. Many ITV companies like Thames used a variation of this logo.
Scare Factor: Low to medium, depending on the variant used, because the owl from the credits of OWL TV crashing into the screen can catch you off-guard.
3rd Logo
(1999-2002)
Normal Logos
Variants
Nickname: "TV From The Heart"
Logo: On a blue background with spinning heart panels segmented in three, the franchise logo appears via a Matrix-like "digitizing" effect. A blue border surrounds the logo, and at the bottom of the border in a blue square are the yellow letters "itv".
Variants:
- On occasion, a default version would be used, in which the ITV logo would only be displayed.
- There would be some golden panels used in the daytime, and in the nighttime, they would be all blue.
- Starting in 2001, during the switch to ITV1, the ITV1 logo appears below, which has the "1" inside a yellow square.
- A short film culminating in the appearance of a heart usually precedes this logo. However, there is a standard animated logo that shows the logo formed by yellow lines.
- Later versions bear the franchise or network's URL at the bottom or bottom-right corner of the screen. The itv.com URL is in white, and has a similar look to the ITV/ITV1 logo.
FX/SFX: The spinning hearts and the "digitizing" effect.
Cheesy Factor: The spinning hearts look cheesy, but everything else is still nice and clean.
Music/Sounds: A tense orchestrated fanfare culminating in a five-note piano fanfare. On some rare occasions, a dramatic synth fanfare would be used.
Availability: Extinct in this region, but this is one of ITV's generic logos, and as such appears elsewhere with a different logo.
Scare Factor: None; this is a clean (and BORING) logo.

ITV1
1st Logo
(2002-2004)
Logo: We see a montage of various ITV1 personalities, which ends with the ITV1 logo in 3D sliding toward the bottom right in pieces before coming together.
Variant: There is a different variant in which the ITV1 logo revolves and forms itself on a background of spinning blue panels. Also, in this variant, the logo zooms in a bit.
FX/SFX: The panels and zooming.
Music/Sounds: A rather uninspired jazz-like tune, or an equally uninspired guitar tune. This is sometimes accompanied by a continuity announcement.
Availability: Extinct; check tapes for the logo.
Scare Factor: None.
