Background: Filmways Pictures was a short-lived film company which was a division of Filmways Television that was founded in 1978 and went defunct in 1983. Today, all of the Filmways movie library is held by MGM under the umbrella of Sony and its partners.
1st Logo (1978-1981)
Nickname: "Constellation"
Logo: Set against a starry space BG, we see a bright star emit a beam of light to wipe in the words "FILMWAYS PICTURES, INC." in a curvy orange font. The star disappears, and after a while, the words zoom up and slide away.
FX: The space background, the star wiping in the company name...
Cheesy Factor: ...which look fairly cheesy.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Extremely rare; seen on The High Cost of Living.
Scare Factor: Low.
2nd Logo (1981-1983)
Nickname: "Abstract F"
Logo: Mainly an extended version of the Filmways Television 1981-1983 logo.
FX: Same as the Filmways Television 1981-1983 logo.
Music/Sounds: None, or the opening theme of the movie.
Availability: Ultra rare; can be seen on the Warner Home Video release of Death Wish II. This logo is removed on the DVD releases of Dressed to Kill and Death Wish II.
