1st Logo
(1984-1991/2003)
Film ROman logo from 1982-1989Film Roman: 1984Film Roman - CLG WikiFilm Roman (1982-1989)
Film Roman (1982-1989)Film Roman: 1989Film Roman: 1991

Nicknames: "'80s FR Logo", "The Pen"

Logo: Against a
blue background, we see the text "ROMAN" (in white with yellow outlines) with "film" in a red cursive font in the O. "A" and "PRODUCTION" (in yellow) are above and below the logo. The bottom of the "F" extends downward past the inside of the "O", looking kind of like a pen.

Variants: Most episodes and TV movies of Garfield and Friends from season 2 onward simply used the text "A FILM ROMAN PRODUCTION" with "in association with" below on a certain colored BG.
  • 1984: Orange background used on Garfield in the Rough.
  • 1985: Fuchsia background used on Garfield's Halloween Special.
  • 1986: Navy blue background used on Garfield in Paradise.
  • 1987: A blue background featuring an image of Garfield sleeping below the text used on Garfield Goes Hollywood.
  • 1989: A brick wall background featuring a silhouette of Garfield in a detective trench coat all in black & white used on Garfield's Babes and Bullets.
  • 1989: A brown background was used on Garfield's Thanksgiving
  • 1991: Blue background used on A Garfield Christmas Special.
  • 2003: A black background with the text reading as "IN ASSOCIATION WITH DPS FILM ROMAN" on the ultra short-lived show Free For All.

FX/SFX: None; it's a still logo.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the show.

Availability: Appears on the first season of Garfield & Friends and its preceding television specials.

Scare Factor: None.

2nd Logo
(1989-1998)
Film Roman - CLG WikiFilm Roman: 1991-b
Film Roman: 1990Film Roman (1992)Film Roman (In Association With)

Nicknames: "Fireworks", "The Game Boy Logo"

Logo
: We see a
blue background, which rapidly shrinks into a blue box on a white BG. As the box stops shrinking, five sparks (two on the left, three on the right) form orange-ish curved lines in the box. The text "A FILM ROMAN PRODUCTION" ("FILM" and "ROMAN" are in blue filmstrip-like boxes) appears above and below the logo, in such fashion:

A
FILM
(box design)
ROMAN
PRODUCTION

Two yellow dots appear to the left and right of the logo.

Variants:
  • Sometimes, the dots are omitted. So far this version is only seen on The Mask: The Animated Series.
  • TV movies would have the title and copyright stamp below the logo.
  • Another variant features "in association with" below.

FX/SFX: The shrinking, the drawing of the lines.

Music/Sounds: Sometimes the end theme finishes over it, but it's own music consists of a ascending dreamy synth tune when the lines are drawn, followed by two pinging sounds (sounding similar to the Game Boy boot sound) when the dots appear. Sometimes, only the pinging sounds are left in. There is also a very rare variant of the full logo with just the first ping. For the TV movie variants, the end theme also finishes over it, but sometimes the pinging is still intact.

Availability: It was last seen on Garfield & Friends reruns on Boomerang, specifically, from the second season onward, also on other shows such as Bobby's World (which can be viewed on Kabillion On Demand), Mighty Max, The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat, and C Bear and Jamal among others. Don't expect this on The Simpsons, for Film Roman only produced the animation for the latter show, and nothing else (Gracie Films and TCF logos typically appear at the end of the show). The version with one ping appeared on the final season of Garfield & Friends.

Scare Factor: Low for the full music version, and low to medium for the version with just the pinging.

3rd Logo
(1999)
Film Roman: 1999

Nickname:
"3-D Fireworks"

Logo: On a black background, we see a 3-D logo from logo #2, that starts off in the center and later starts to turn itself rightward, minus "A" above the logo and "PRODUCTION" below the logo. This time, the dots and the fireworks are in a gold color. The dot on the left moves up and the dot on the
right moves down and the entire logo later freezes.

FX/SFX: The logo turning.

Music/Sounds
: The end title theme from any show or TV movie.

Availability: Rare. Seen on Johnny Tsunami.

Scare Factor: None.

4th Logo
(2000-2007)
Film Roman: 2000-2004DPS Film Roman

Nickname: "F-R"

Logo: On a blue background with white spirals and the letters ''F'' and ''R'', we see a blue and white Film Roman logo looking very much like the one from the '90s, but slightly more modernized.

Variant: From 2003-2007,
"DPS" in white is positioned on top of the logo, and the words FILM ROMAN are stacked at the bottom. The byline "an IDT ENTERTAINMENT company" or "an IDT Media company" is shown below, in white, and with "IDT ENTERTAINMENT" or "IDT Media" in bold lettering. The trademark (TM) symbol is shown on the lower right-hand corner of the logo.

FX/SFX: None; it's a still image.

Music/Sounds: Possibly the ending theme of the show. Other times, it's silent.

Availability:
The original version is pretty common and it's currently seen on X-Men Evolution on Disney XD and the complete first season on DVD. It was also seen on the TV movie Motorcrossed. The DPS variant is seen on the final season of X-Men: Evolution on Disney XD and reruns of other Film Roman shows (and sometimes removes old Film Roman logos and replaces it with this one). This logo is used in tandem with the original and 4th logos.

Scare Factor: None.

5th Logo
(July 11-September 12, 2003)

Film Roman: 2003

Logo: On a black background, we have the 3rd logo of Film Roman, but this time the box is blue, the letters & inside of the box are white,
and the fireworks are blue.

FX/SFX: None; it's a still logo.

Music/Sounds: The last few notes of Free For All's theme song.

Availability: Extinct; was seen on Free For All on Showtime. Should still be left intact whenever reran.

Scare Factor: None.

6th Logo
(2007-2008)
Film Roman (2007)

Nickname: "Fireworks in Space", "Starz Fireworks"

Logo: On a black space background, we see the Film Roman logo from logo 4. We see a blue light haze (a la the 2004 Nelvana logo) behind it. Under it is the byline "a
starz company" (in white) with "starz" in its corporate font.

Variant: On the 2008 Christmas special Cranberry Christmas, the logo is surrounded by light green Christmas lights.

FX/SFX: The light haze.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Can be seen after Slacker Cats on ABC Family. On a special occasion, this logo can be seen at the end of the 2008 Christmas special Cranberry Christmas on ABC Family.

Scare Factor: None.

7th Logo
(2009- )

Nickname: "The Paintcan"
