1st Logo
(1997-2000)
Disney Channel (1997-2000)Disney Channel (1997-2000)Disney Channel Productions, the "Dancing Mickey" (1999-2000)Disney Channel (So Weird, 1999)Disney Channel: 1999

Nickname
: "Dancing Mickey"

Logo: Over a background of concentric circles coming from the center (and claymated), we see Mickey Mouse dancing inside the Disney Channel logo of the era (a
black television set with Mickey Mouse ears at the top, with the white Disney logo inside and "CHANNEL" below). Sometimes, the white "In Association with" text is shown above, set in Triplex Sans. Also, the background pattern varies.

Variants:
  • For the later years, the website URL www.disney.com is shown below.
  • On the first two seasons of So Weird and the TV movie Johnny Tsunami, the background is a blue aurora that almost appears to be swirling with white sparks coming from behind the logo like a burst of fireworks and a purple aurora blurry ring.
  • Some co-produced series would carry the text "In Association With" above the logo.

FX/SFX: The animating background, Mickey Mouse dancing.

Music/Sounds: A synth disco jingle, based on Disney Channel's old jingle at the time, or the end theme of the show or TV movie.

Availability: Quite rare; appeared on Out of the Box, Amazing Animals, Rolie Polie Olie, and Mad Libs. None of these shows are currently reran (especially Mad Libs, which has long since faded into obscurity), and any shows that had this logo were plastered over with the 2002 Disney Channel logo or the Playhouse Disney logo. However, on Johnny Tsunami on Disney Channel and Disney XD and the DVD release of Rolie Polie Olie: Olie's Winter Wonderland, they have this logo intact. The So Weird variant is rare and short-lived because it was plastered over with the 3rd logo. Some PB&J Otter episodes uses the Walt Disney Television logo instead of this one. Check your old tapes for this logo!

Scare Factor: None.

2nd Logo
(2000-2002)
Disney Channel Productions (2000-2002)Disney Channel (2002)

Nickname: "The Hip-Hop Logo"

Logo: Over a psychedelic
purple background, we see "IN ASSOCIATION WITH" in white. It fades out and zooms in and the Disney Channel logo from last time, in purple, zooms up. "Disney", in the familiar wordmark, pops out of the logo when it stops. Through the remainder, the logo shifts colors and patterns. There is a "ghost" of the logo in front of it.

Variant: On some shows, it omits the words "
IN ASSOCIATION WITH", so we start with the Disney Channel logo zooming-in.

FX/SFX: The logo zooming-in and changing colors.

Music/Sounds: Either the end theme of the show, or a hip-hop/rock jingle containing a male's voice saying "Yeah!", followed by a synthesized voice saying "Hey-HEY!" (or something like that). The short version just has the "Hey-HEY!" sounder.

Availability: Near extinction. Appeared on pre-2002 episodes of Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens last seen on WGN America. You'll be lucky to see it in it's glory there, as WGN obliterates the logos with their GSN like credits (at least they don't cut them off like GSN, though). Check your old tapes for the logo if you don't have WGN!

Scare Factor: None.

3rd Logo
(2002- )
Disney Channel (2002-)Disney Channel (2002-)

Nickname: "Shiny Mickey Head"

Logo: Over a
black background, we see pixie dust flying to the top. It explodes and forms several Mickey Mouse head outlines, all of which fly towards the viewer, turning the background into a cloudy sky. A Mickey Mouse head outline flies to the bottom right, and turns into a blue outlined Disney Channel logo, filled with watery white coloring and the "Disney CHANNEL" text in black. A blue banner reading "ORIGINAL" in white pops up around the logo. The entire logo wobbles.

Variants:
  • There is a more commonplace short version starting with the wobble. The long version only appeared before shows and was retired in 2006.
  • On Life with Derek, "IN ASSOCIATION WITH" is above the logo.

FX/SFX: All of the animation.

Music/Sounds: Several drumbeats, followed by a guitar theme. May also use the show's ending theme. The shorter version uses a rock Disney Channel jingle.

Music/Sounds Variant: On Thats So Raven, we hear the last logo's music, except the "Yeah!" is extended. Several shows used a short version of it.

Availability: Common; appears on every Disney Channel-produced show from 2002-present. It is also tacked onto the end of older non-Playhouse shows when they get reran. It also plasters over the 2000 Disney Channel logo on Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens (which both were currently aired on WGN America), while this logo has plastered over the 1999 Disney Channel logo on the first two seasons of So Weird (which is not currently airing on Disney Channel as of now). Still appears on brand new episodes of non-"filmized" Disney Channel original shows.

Scare Factor: None.

4th Logo
(2007- )

Disney Channel (2007- )Disney Channel (2007- )

Nickname: "The Ribbon"

Logo: On a black background, we see a blue ribbon drawing it's way front. The camera follows the ribbon thusly. All of a sudden, the background changes to twinkling blue, and the ribbon turns into Mickey Mouse head,
forming the Disney Channel logo from last time, but with a bit of a difference, then a white Mickey Mouse head appears from it and zooms in. The "Original" banner drops down under the Disney Channel name, and doesn't wobble, so it comes to a complete stop before we fade (or cut) out.

Variants:
  • There is a prototype version of this logo that was only cut short. It was only seen on two Disney Channel original movies including High School Musical 2 and Twitches Too. However, this logo was "officially" debuted on January 25, 2008.
  • On the 2008 Disney Channel Games, there is a widescreen version, with blue lines sandwiched on the left and right respectively. Plus, it disappears, causing the Disney copyright notice to appear.
  • In Disney Channel's latest original movie The Cheetah Girls: One World, the "ORIGINAL" banner is absent.

FX/SFX: The ribbon drawing itself, the banner dropping down.

Music/Sounds: We either hear the 2nd logo's music and its variants, a snippet of the 2007-present Disney Channel Ident, or the end theme playing over it.

Availability: Fairly common, seen on newer Walt Disney Television Animation shows, such as Phineas and Ferb and the second season of The Replacements, and the recent season of The Suite Life on Deck, among others, mostly on filmed and HD shows.

Scare Factor: None.

Disney Channel Bulgaria and Romania (and presumably the other Disney Channels in Europe) only has whatever copies Buena Vista International, Inc. prepared at the time the film or episode was made. Therefore, the old Disney Channel logos are preserved, and are followed by one of the Buena Vista International castle logos that were used before 2007. In fact, they removed the Disney Channel logo from all animated series made before 2007 (when it was present) and put their logo above it. In the case of feature originals or feature series, they just put it after the end of the film.

I recently saw an episode of Even Stevens on Disney XD, and oddly enough, the 3rd logo didn't plaster the older one, believe it or not!
