1st Logo
(1950-1964?)
Constantin Film (1950-1964?)

Nickname: "The Sunbeams of Doom"

Logo: On a black BG that fades to a "sunbeam" BG with black and gray stripes, the text:

Constantin
FILM

zooms forth, with "Constantin" in script. After a few seconds, the letters suddenly shift closer. Sometimes, "bringt" (which means "brings" in German) appears below.

FX/Cheesy Factor: The zooming and shifting.

Music/Sounds: Starts off with a timpani drum roll that increases in volume, then a very loud and bombastic brass fanfare that ends in a high note.

Availability: Rare; seen on German films of the period.

Scare Factor: High, due to the fanfare, but it would get worse with the next logo...

2nd Logo
(1964?-1978?)

Constantin Film (1964?-1978?)

Nicknames: "The Sunbeams of Doom II", "Shaking-Shocking Sunbeam"

Logo: We fade in to see the text "Constantin" from before, but colored orange, against a blue and beige "sunburst" BG (just like before). Below it are the words "FILM" and "bringt", both in yellow-orange. After a few seconds, the logo "shakes".

FX: The "shaking"...

Cheesy Factor: ...which is really, really badly done!

Music/Sounds: See 1st logo.

Availability: See 1st logo.

Scare Factor: High to NIGHTMARE; the "shaking" makes it even worse!

3rd Logo
(1978?-1980s?)
Neue Constantin Film (1978?-1980's?)

Nickname: "The Sunbeams of Doom III"

Logo: We see the same sunbeam BG from before, but animated, with one set rotating clockwise and the other rotating counterclockwise. After a few seconds, the words "con" (with "neue" fading in at the top), "stan", and "tin" zoom up rapidly in sync with the fanfare. "FILM" and "bringt" fade in below after that.

Variants:
  • Sometimes, the BG is shown in a darker tint, though this might be due to film deterioration.
  • Sometimes, "neue" is not shown.
FX: The rotating sunbeams, the words zooming up.

Music/Sounds
: Once again, same as 1st logo, though it might be heard at a lower pitch.

Music/Sound Variant
: The fanfare may have a different ending.

Availability: Rare; seen on German films of the time.

Scare Factor
: Medium to high; just a little tamer from before.

4th Logo
(1980s?-1998?)

TBA

5th Logo
(1998?-1999?)
Constantin Film (1998?-1999?)

Logo: On a dark blue background, we see a dark roll of film zoom fastly to the left, with "Constantin Film" in a pseudo cursive font underlined. A light flashes and the roll of film (still moving) turns upward and "Constantin Film " appears in the film strip blinking. The blinking slows down, and we zoom in to the film strip so all we see is "Constantin Film", in orange, and in the same font with the same underline.

FX: Flashing lights, the film strips rolling. All very good animation!

Music/Sounds: A string driven, triumphant orchestral piece.

Availability: TBA

Scare Factor: Minimal; the music and dark atmosphere might give someone the shakes, but this is much mellower than previous logos from the company.

6th Logo
(1999?- )
Constantin Film (1999?- )

Logo: Same as before, except the text is in white and the URL www.constantinfilm.de is added below.

FX: See previous logo.

Music/Sounds: See previous logo.

Availability: Currently in use.

Scare Factor: See previous logo.

If this page didn't say that the "shaking" Constantin logo was produced by professionals, I never would have believed it. The shaking effect looks like something from a You Tube video!
