CinéGroupe (Canada)This is a featured page

Background: CinéGroupe was created in 1974 by Jacques Pettigrew and Michel Lemire. This animation company also produced action-live shows. No logo was shown until 1988.

1st logo
(1988-1997)

Nickname: The Bird

Logo: On a fog background, we see a light stepping away. As we approach up-close, we see a bird with a filmstrip in his mouth. The bird walks. Meanwhile, the word CINÉ-GROUPE spins to us. The bird stops, revealing:

CINÉ
(the bird)
GROUPE

The word «CINÉ-GROUPE» is in a Gotkitch font with the U and P connected.

Cheesy Factor: Rubbish.

SFX: The bird walking.

Music: A doo-wop tune.

Availability: Extinct. But you can see it on reruns of «Sharky & George» on some networks.

Scare Factor: Low.

2nd Logo
(1997-2000)

Nickname: The CGI Bird

Logo: On a black background, we see the bird from the previous logo. The bird finds a white dot. He grabs it and chews in it. As the dot becomes the filmstrip, the background turns into orange-black. Then we get the same logo as above (the bird with the filmstrip in his mouth). The logo shines.

Variant: On Mega Babies, CINÉGROUPE is replaced by CINEGROUP and the black dot animation is not played.

Cheesy Factor: The bird grabbing the dot.

SFX: All the animation in this logo.

Music: A child-like tune ending in a electric guitar note as the logo is completed.

Availability: Seen on most every show produced by CinéGroupe from 1997 to 2000.

Scare Factor: None, of course.

3rd Logo
(2000-October 2001)

Nickname: Bird in the Theater

Logo: On a dark projection filmstrip background, we see letters flowing around. A big C swivels around and stops at the center to reveal the bird in the center (but no filmstrip in his mouth). Underneath this is the word CineGroupe (in an Arial font).

Variant: In shows produced from June to October 2001, the CineGroupe words turns to blue by electric fields.

Cheesy Factor: None.

SFX/Music: A Vanguard-like theme with crash for the C swiveling.

Availability: Seen on Sagwa The Chinese Siamese Cat, Kids from Room 402, and other shows.

Scare Factor: None.

4th Logo
(October 2001-)

Nickname: Current one

Logo: On a black background, we see the CineGroupe logo sliding in. Then the logo sparkles once.

Variant: The logo simply shines on most shows.

Cheesy Factor: None.

SFX/Music: A waving electronic tune (the variant uses a zip note instead).

Availability: Seen on all CinéGroupe shows from the present.

Scare Factor: Low.

CinéGroupe Star

Background: CinéGroupe Star was a joint-venture between Star Records and CinéGroupe to release episodes of shows on videocassette and DVD. The partnership ended in January 2004.

(August 2002-January 2004)

Nickname: Glitters

Logo: On a black background, we see the words CinéGroupe and STAR in their respective font sliding in. Then a bird appears at the front of the words. The logo goes out as the bird goes away.

Cheesy Factor: None.

SFX/Music: A wavy, cosy tune.

Availability: Seen on every VHS and DVD released by CinéGroupe Star.

Scare Factor: None.
