Background: Originally founded in 1987, this company didn't enter TV production until late 1989 when Seinfeld (formerly The Seinfeld Chronicles) premiered on TV. Currently, they don't use a proper logo, just the Castle Rock movie logo with the sped-up music and a copyright info below.
1st Logo (1989-1994)
Nicknames: "The Lighthouse", "The Light Tower", "Majestic Lighthouse"
Logo: We see a lighthouse outlined on a black/red gradient sky, situated on jet-black ground. From it is a white light, which starts at the left and then sweeps around to the right. As it sweeps, the words "CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT" are revealed, and a copyright notice appears. The sun slowly rises up from behind the lighthouse as the logo finishes.
Bylines:
The first copyright notice appears underneath the logo, then a copyright notice disappears until the logo fades out to black.
The second copyright notice appears under it, instead of a copyright notice fade out, this logo fades out later.
FX/SFX: The "CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT" text sweeping, the copyright appearances.
Music/Sounds: A sped-up rendition of the last five notes of the movie jingle.
Availability: Rare; currently seen on Thea on BET (whenever they decide to re-air it again), but this logo can be seen on Seinfeld DVDs in high-res and in excellent quality (they are plastered over with the 2nd logo in syndication). The earlier variant was seen intact only on the pilot episode of Seinfeld titled The Seinfeld Chronicles.
Logo: A more detailed CGI version of the previous logo. A yellow light on a blue/orange gradient sky with water appears to reveal a lighthouse and a house on a water. The yellow light sweeps out "CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT", which is seen in a plain yellow font below the lighthouse. The company name now zooms out from the bottom of the screen. The sun, now a lighter shade of orange, is seen rising up from behind the lighthouse as the logo finishes.
Bylines: Below it, one of these two bylines appearing below the logo:
1995-1996: "A TURNER COMPANY", with a copyright notice underneath the byline.
1996-2001:1996-: "A TIME WARNER COMPANY", with a copyright notice underneath the byline (same here).
2001-2002: "AN AOL TIME WARNER COMPANY", with a copyright notice underneath the byline (same as recent).
Sometimes, the logo has no byline when the copyright notice still appears.
Some episodes of Mission Hill lack the byline and the copyright notice.
FX/SFX: The lighthouse and the company name zoom-out, the byline and copyright notice appearing.
Cheesy Factor: The Turner byline looks rather cheaply chyroned in.
Music/Sounds: Same as last logo. From 1996, a sped-up variant of the re-orchestrated and dramatic-sounding version is used.
Availability: Common; can be seen on current prints of old Seinfeld episodes and DVD releases beginning with the sixth season. This logo was seen originally on late 1994-1998 episodes of Seinfeld, as well on Mission Hill, aired occasionally on Adult Swim.
