Logo descriptions and captures by Logoboy95
Editions by V of Doom and Shadeed A. Kelly
Background: Originally founded in 1987, this company didn't enter TV production until late 1989 when Seinfeld (formerly The Seinfeld Chronicles) premiered on TV.
1st Logo
(1989-1994)
Nicknames: "The Lighthouse", "The Light Tower"
Logo: We see a lighthouse outlined on a black/red gradient sky, situated on jet-black ground. From it is a white light, which starts at the left and then sweeps around to the right. As it sweeps, the words "CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT" are revealed, and a
copyright notice appears. The sun slowly rises up from behind the lighthouse as the logo finishes.
Copyright Notices:
FX: The "CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT" text sweeping, the copyright appearances.
Music: A sped-up rendition of the last five notes of the movie jingle.
Availability: Rare, currently seen on Thea on BET, but this logo can be seen on Seinfeld DVDs in high-res and in excellent quality.
Scare Factor: None, it's a clean logo.
2nd Logo
(1994-)
Nicknames: "CGI Lighthouse", "CGI Light Tower"
Logo: A more detailed CGI version of the previous logo. A yellow light on a blue/orange gradient sky with water appears to reveal a lighthouse and a house on a water. The yellow light sweeps out "CASTLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT", which is seen in a plain
yellow font below the lighthouse. The company name now zooms out from the bottom of the screen. The sun, now a lighter shade of orange, is seen rising up from behind the lighthouse as the logo finishes.
Bylines: Below it, one of these two bylines appearing below the logo:
FX: The lighthouse and the company name zoom-out, the byline and copyright notice appearing.
Music: Same as last logo. From 1996, a more sped-up re-orchestrated and dramatic-sounding version is used.
Availability: Current on television, can be seen on current prints of old Seinfeld episodes. This logo was seen originally on 1996-1998late 1994-1998 episodes of Seinfeld. Also, it was seen on Mission Hill, aired ocassionally on [adult swim], and soon (possibly) on Utopia Spaceage Colony in 2008.
Scare Factor: Same as Logo 1.
