Background: On September 26, 2006, CBS Corporation merged King World, CBS Paramount International Television (now CBS Studios International), CBS Paramount Domestic Television, and CBS Home Entertainment to form CBS Television Distribution. The merger wouldn't take effect on screen until 2007, when the King World and CBS Paramount Domestic Television logos were retired in favor of this one below.

(August 20, 2007- )
CBS Paramount Television/CBS Television Distribution - CLG WikiCTD: 2007-wsCBS Television Distribution (B&W)

Nicknames: "CBS Studio", "CGI Studio"

Logo: In a studio, with blue lights all over, we see the words "CBS Television Distribution" ("CBS" in it's usual Didot font, with "Television" next to CBS, and "Distribution" next to CBS and below Television, both are in a Helvetica font) floating above a reflective ground (which ripples at the beginning, like water) in front of a wall with clouds on it. The camera zooms out from the logo until it's over. But on the longer version, it stops behind some black girders.

Variants
:
  • The longer variant has everything the above says, except at the beginning, the camera zooms away from the CBS Eyemark, and "Television Distribution" zooms back in place, and then the camera moves away from the logo and stops behind the girders. It can be seen here.
  • A Black and White version is used on B&W shows.

FX/SFX: Beautiful graphics, period! The CGI set looks well done, reminiscent of the 1997 CBS Productions logo.

Music/Sounds: A beautiful 6 note violin sounder, which sounds like a remix of the music in the CBS Paramount Network Television logo. There are four elements:

  • In the short version of the logo, the jingle is faster paced.
  • Sometimes, the theme would have either five (minus the first note) or all six notes.
  • There is a longer version of the theme.
  • On the extended theme, there is a much extended theme that would have the elements of the long version theme.

Music/Sounds Variants: On Jeopardy!, you can still hear part of the 1998 King World thunderclap sound effect before the theme is playing.

Availability: Appears mostly on first-run syndicated programming from CBS Paramount Domestic Television, such as Judge Judy, Dr. Phil, Montel and Entertainment Tonight. It is also seen on ex-King World distribute shows like: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Rachael Ray, and Inside Edition, but not The Oprah Winfrey Show. It can also be seen on local reruns of Fraiser, Half & Half, One on One, and Maximum Exposure (the latter title to have followed after the Paramount Domestic Television logo of the time). This logo was also seen on Everybody Loves Raymond in syndication which plasters over the King World logo. It was also seen on Star Trek: The Original Series - Remastered. Also on new programming like The Doctors. The extended version is seen on their website and was seen on the final two seasons of Montel. This logo can also be seen together with its network television counterpart's "Wallpaper" logo before it on syndicated reruns of the CSI franchise. The short version can also be seen on DVD releases of Hawaii Five-O, starting with the fourth season. The logo can be seen on syndicated reruns of the 1987-1994 made-for-syndication television series Star Trek: The Next Generation in which this logo replaced the 1987 Paramount Pictures logo.

Scare Factor: None; possibly one of the best logos of the decade.

CBS has a huge library of classic shows that they have acquired from various companies over the years. And they need an outlet to showcase it.

So I propose that CBS launch a cable channel dedicated to airing programs from the CBS library. Most of the programming hours would be dedicated to airing blocks of shows based around a certain theme or franchise (like Monday nights from 8-11 would consist of Happy Days and all its live-action spinoffs). The 6-8 PM slots on weekdays would feature new episodes of Inside Edition, ET and The Insider (while still being syndicated) along with a new version of Hard Copy (exclusive to this network); all would be aired as one 2-hour block with a single credits sequence at the end (similar to how ET and The Insider air in certain markets).

Saturday and Sunday mornings would be cartoons in the CBS library, and afternoons would be classic sporting events. Sunday nights would be movies in the CBS library.

As nice as this logo is, I think this might soon become the case if CBS/Paramount is now using this to plaster Paramount logos (on TV *AND* on DVD!)
