Background: Blue Sky Studios was founded in 1987 by Chris Wedge. In 1991, this company animates the Nicktoons blob bumper made by Nickelodeon. In 1997, Blue Sky Studios became a sub-division of 20th Century Fox Animation and subsidiary of News Corporation, when Fox started releasing animated films. However, this company did not use a logo until 2002, when the company's first release, Ice Age, released in theaters.

Logo: On a black background, we see the white words "Blue Sky" above a blue "chalk" line with a copyright notice underneath.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare; seen only on Ice Age.

Nickname: "The Wiggling Circle"

Logo: Over a white background we see a
blue circle wiggling over the gray words "Blue Sky" in the same font as in the first logo. Then the word "studios" fades in underneath. Then the logo fades away as the movie starts. Sometimes, the logo is put on a blue background and "studios" is in white.

Trivia: The first movie to use this logo was Robots (2005).

Variant:
  • There is a variant in which the 20th Century Fox logo transitioning into the Blue Sky Studios logo. It was only seen on the Horton Hears a Who! teaser, which debuted with The Simpsons Movie (2007).
  • There is a white background version without "studios", used in copyrighted games.

FX/SFX: The circle "wiggling".

Music/Sounds: Silent. This sometimes have an opening theme score.

Availability: Appeared on Robots, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. The logo is also likely to be seen on Rio, scheduled for release on April 8, 2011.

I've Seen Every Ice Age Movie The Old blue sky logo Can Be seen On The Back Of The Robots DVD Cover I did not see the old blue sky logo on ice age 1

The old Blue Sky Studios logo can be also seen on the "Robots" video game, and the current Blue Sky Studios logo can be seen too on the "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown" video game, and the current Blue Sky logo will possibly be seen on the "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" video game coming to a store near you on June 30, 2009.

"Robots" is actually the first film to use the current Blue Sky Studios logo, which in turn actually first used in 2005. "Ice Age" is the only film to have the old logo.
