Barbour/Langley Productions

1st Logo
(1989-1996?)
Barbour/Langley Productions - CLG WikiBarbour/Langley Productions (1989)

Nicknames: "The Early Cops Logo", "The Pink Logo"

Logo: Over a black background, the text "BARBOUR", in pink, flies from the right of the screen, with "LANGLEY" doing the same thing from the left. They both criss-cross and land on opposite sides, and a yellow slash draws itself between them. "PRODUCTIONS, INC." appears below, in pink.

Variant: On some episodes of Cops, this logo would have a copyright stamp.

FX: The flying text.

Cheesy Factor: Simple animation.

Music/Sounds: A dramatic eight-note synth tune that begins with four descending notes followed by a fifth accompanied by a pound of some kind when the words land. Then three more ascending notes follow.

Availability: Can be seen on the early 1989-1992 episodes of Cops when reran on the FX Network, Fox Reality, TruTV (formerly CourtTV), and in syndication. However this logo was used until 1996, as some shows still used this until 1996.

Scare Factor: Medium to high; the synth (along with the godawful pink) may not sit well with some people.

2nd Logo
(1992-2002)
Barbour/Langley Productions (1992-2002)

Nicknames: "The Cops Logo", "The Silver Logo"

Logo: Almost the same as before, except everything is silver and in 3D, and occurs at a faster rate. Also, there is no "INC." at the end.

FX: Same as the 1st logo, but an improvement over the previous logo.

Music/Sounds: There were two different themes:
  • 1992-1993: The same synth theme from the previous logo.
  • 1993-2002: A southern guitar riff.
Availability: Appears on Cops whenever it's reran.

Scare Factor
: Depends on the music used:
  • Medium; the synth theme may cause some scares, but the logo is tamer.
  • None; the absence of the synth theme helps this, and the guitar riff is pretty cool and fits the show Cops.

1st Logo
(2002-2008)
Langley Productions (2002- )
Nickname: "Still That Cops Logo"

Logo: On a black screen, the letters to "LANGLEY" come into place one by one. The word "PRODUCTIONS" then appears, and the logo shines.

Variant: Starting in late 2005, a version was seen in which the appearance of the letters was cut.

FX: The letters coming in place by place.

Scare Factor: The animation is simple.

Music/Sounds: Same as the second variant of the second logo.

Music/Sound Variant: On Street Patrol, a different guitar theme is used, which is sometimes abridged.

Availability: Appears on newer episodes of Cops on Fox, as well as the new shows Jail and Street Patrol on MyNetworkTV.

Scare Factor: Low.
