Attic Entertainment Software GmbH was a German video game developer and publisher founded in September 1990 by Hans-Jürgen Brändle, Jochen Hamma and Guido Henkel in Albstadt, Baden-Württemberg. They went out of business in 2001. Attic's most famous games were the Realms of Arkania trilogy, a series of role-playing games based on the popular German tabletop game Das Schwarze Auge.


1st Logo
(1990-1995)

Logo: On a black background, the blue book-shaped pattern slowly rises from the water. A circle is shown on the book and a bat shadow over it. The name "attic" appears below on the book.

FX/SFX: The logo rises, simple effect.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on the earliest games.

2nd Logo

Logo: A shining dot zooms in the center of the screen, and four blue shapes fly from the side to take their place behind each other. The dot zooms into the gray circle, placed over the shapes, and a blue bat emerges flying, then freezes still on the circle. The word "attic" appears in the whole width and zooms in below the logo.

FX/SFX: Boxes and the name zoom, the bat flying. Simple computer animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Appeared only on the demo version of
Realms of Arkania III.

Logo: On a waving red background a bright splash of light occurs and a pack of red-eyed bats fly out of there towards the viewer. The red matter moves away like water, revealing the brown background with the 3D book-shaped Attic logo.

FX/SFX: Animation of the light and flying bats.

Music/Sounds: Dramatic beating synth with the sound of wings, fading at the end.

Availability: Was seen on
Realms of Arkania III: Shadows over Riva and Attic's last game, released in Germany, Herrscher der Meere.
