1st Logo
(1953-1982)
Logo: An in-credit text that reads:
FX/SFX: None, just superimposed.
Music/Sounds: The end title theme from any show or silent with or without a male announcer saying: "This has been an ABC Television Network (film) presentation".
Availability: Extinct. This was seen on a lot of original prints of shows such as The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, and Top Cat, among other shows. Not even DVD releases has this.
Scare Factor: None for the silent and with the end title theme from any show. Low with the announcer's voiceover. The male announcer's voice may startle some.
2nd Logo
(1982-2001)
Logo: It's just an in-credit text saying:
Sometimes it says: "ABC Entertainment Productions" or "ABC Entertainment Production" with the ABC copyright stamp and the phrase "In cooperation with" or "In association with".
FXSFX: None, it's superimposed or scrolling in the credits.
Music/Sounds: The end title theme from any show.
Availability: Was seen on early seasons of America's Funniest Home Videos when it was reran on Nick @ Nite. Currently on The Littles on DVD.
Scare Factor: None.
3rd Logo
(2001-2003)
Nicknames: ''The ABC Circle'', "America's Favorite Logo".
Logo: Over a black background, we see several yellow circles zooming forth, eventually seguing into a yellow ABC logo zooming in. "Entertainment" appears below, along with a copyright byline.
Variants: One variant had this logo on a blue background and another with the logo on a green background and the ''ABC'' circle being black.
FX/SFX: All the animation.
Music/Sounds: A hip-hop version of the four-note ABC jingle.
Availability: Not current but can be seen on reruns of America's Funniest Home Videos on WGN America and ABC Family, and on the DVD of America's Funniest Home Videos: Volume One.
Scare Factor: None.
4th Logo
(2003-2004)
Nicknames: "The Forming ABC", "The ABC Ripple"
Logo: We have the black ABC circle with the letters "abc" in its usual font forming on the circle. The circle backs away to the center
of a blue background when we later see the word "Entertainment" and the ABC, Inc. copyright stamp fading in below. From behind the circle logo we see the letters "abc" forming a ripple from small to large letters.
Trivia: This logo was based off the on-air ident ABC had in 2002.
FX/SFX: The letters forming.
Music/Sounds: A piano-orchestra version of the ABC fanfare (last notes only) and sometimes with the announcer announcing: "Thanks for watching ABC".
Availability: Can be seen on AFV reruns on WGN America and ABC Family. This was also used to plaster the ABC Productions logo on the Bob Saget episodes of the show.
Scare Factor: None to low, due to the fact that this precedes the Vin Di Bona logo (whose music is well-known for being eerie).
5th Logo
(2004-2006)
Nicknames: “Red Squares I”, "The Nine Squares", "Welcome to the New ABC"
Logo: On a background of nine red squares, a light brings in the ABC logo from the right. When the
logo positions itself, a “ripple-in-the-water” effect is seen, and “America’s Broadcasting Company” fades in. The text letters slide away.
FX/SFX/Cheesy Factor: Needless to say, not much!
Music/Sounds: A fanfare version of the ABC fanfare (last notes only)
Availability: Seen on some reran episodes of America’s Funniest Home Videos on WGN America and ABC Family.
Scare Factor: None, it’s a neat logo.
6th Logo
(2004-2006)
Nickname: "Red Squares II"
Logo: On the same background as the 5th logo, we see the circle and the letters "A", "B" and "C" doing the same formation from the 7th logo. When the logo forms, the words "ABC Entertainment" fade in below with copyright information.
FX/SFX: Profilic 3D Animation...
Cheesy Factor: ...which looks like it was done on 3Ds Max.
Music/Sounds: A much more triumphant version of the ABC fanfare.
Availability: Seen on episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos when reran on WGN America and ABC Family.
Scare Factor: None.
7th Logo
(2006-2007)
Nicknames: "Bright ABC", "Only on ABC"
Logo: On a green-blue aurora, we see a bright flash which brings forth a disc. The letters "A", "B", and "C" write themselves on the disc the make the finished logo. When it forms, the words "ABC ENTERTAINMENT" fade in below the logo with copyright information. The disc then shines.
FX/SFX: Beautiful, perfect, and excellent animation. Nice to see about the disc shining.
Music/Sounds: A rock tune, followed by a dreamy version of the ABC fanfare.
Availability: Seen on reran episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos on WGN America and ABC Family.
Scare Factor: None.
8th Logo
(2007- )
Nicknames: "Aqua ABC", "Start Here"
Logo: On a white background, we see the ABC logo covered in water. The water is raised from the top of the screen, as the logo is revealed. "ABC Entertainment" fades in the bottom of the screen.
Trivia: This logo resembles the graphics used in the "Start Here" promo.
FX/SFX: Nice CGI.
Music/Sounds: A soft electric tune. (same one used in the "Start Here" promo.)
Availability: Seen on current episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos on ABC and ABC Family in the United States and on A-Channel in Canada.
Scare Factor: Low.
