Background: This television production/distribution division was formed in 1992 by 20th Century Fox and Fox Television Stations, divisions of News Corporation. 20th Television also produces their own programs and distributes them across the nation. This logo was also used to represent
20th Century Fox Television from 1992-1995, replacing the earlier 1960-1992 "20th Television Fox" logo.

20th Television (2008) (Standard)20th Television (2008)

Nicknames: "CGI Searchlights", "Tower of Tepidity", "Zooming Tower"

Logo: We see a close-up of the familiar Fox structure, but now it's in CGI and reads "20th TELEVISION", with a steel line below that (that would normally be reserved for "FOX") replaced by a simple golden square. The logo zooms out to the familiar Fox logo distance.

Variants:
  • In the logo's early years, the zoom-out appeared to be more slower.
  • In 2008, the 20th TV logo was given a more "enhanced" look with more realistic effects, just like its network television counterpart. However, on Adult Swim prints of Family Guy episodes from the 2008-2009 season, it still uses the 1992 logo with the byline and the 1995 fanfare.
  • There is an opening variant of this logo; it's exactly the same, only the zoom-out is very slow and choppy, and also it's silent and bylineless.
  • On local reruns of South Park and TBS's split-screen credits of Yes, Dear, the logo appears as usual without animation during the TBS "(SERIES NAME HERE) Starts Right Now!" bumper, even with vanity cards.
  • There is also a B&W variant of this logo for classic Fox shows and movies in B&W. A B&W variant of the 2008 logo was spotted on the film It Happens Every Spring on TCM.
  • On Adult Swim's print of the King of the Hill episode "Hank's Unmentional Problem", it has the 1995 jingle, but after it ends, the searchlights still scroll before cutting to black.
  • An in-credit variant seen on Sherman Oaks shows the (bylineless) logo zooming in (though not fully) and animating with "DISTRIBUTED BY" appearing above.
  • On the syndicated Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?, the byline fades in early while the logo zooms out.

Byline: "A NEWS CORPORATION COMPANY" began fading in below the logo in 1994.

FX/SFX: The logo zooming out. However, on local reruns of South Park and TBS' reruns of Yes, Dear with split-screen credits, there is no animation at all.

Music/Sounds:
  • 1992-1995: The remastered 1988 jingle.
  • 1995-2008: A re-arranged and re-recorded variant of the 1988 jingle by Bruce Broughton.
  • 1997-2008: A re-arranged and a re-recorded warp speed variant of the 1961 jingle.
  • 2008-: The current jingle that is edited from 1997 recording of the studio fanfare, with 0:07-0:09 of the fanfare leading into 0:12 of the fanfare.
  • 2008-: The short version of the 20th Century Fox fanfare. It sounds like an extended version of the 1995 fanfare. Seen on King of the Hill on Adult Swim.
  • 2009-: Shortened version of above. Sounds like a re-arranged version of the 1995 jingle. Appeared on Die Hard 2 on AMC and on Adult Swim, as well as the King of the Hill episode "Peggy's Fun Fair".

Music/Sound Variants:

  • In some cases, it uses only the closing theme of the show, or none.
  • There was a low tone of the remastered 1988 theme from 1992-1995 on reruns of Dynasty.
  • On post-2002 reruns of Cops, the 1995 20th Century Fox Television theme is used.
  • Same as before, on some co-produced shows, a generic theme was used.
  • Sometimes, it uses the Fox Television Studios theme. Because some Fox Television Studios shows like The Hughleys, have this logo plaster it with it's original music left intact.
  • On Hallmark Channel's print of the M*A*S*H episode "Love Story" and on BET's print of the In Living Color episode "Anton the Recruiter", the short 1965 20th Century Fox Television theme is heard.
  • On Family Feud, the 1995 theme is edited a bit, with the second half only.
  • In exceptional cases, a soundbite of the show is used.
  • Appears silent at the end of Alien Nation: Body and Soul.

Availability: Plastered onto most every show Fox distributes, even classic shows. It even shows up on DVDs of Fox shows (such as The Simpsons). The opening variant is very rare, because it was only seen at the beginning of the movie An Unmarried Woman. The enhanced variant can be seen on current episodes of The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet, Family Feud, and Christina's Court, as well as King of the Hill reruns on Adult Swim.

Scare Factor: Depending on the logo variant:
  • 1992-1995: None.
  • 1995-2008: Low.
  • 1997-2008: Low to medium.
  • 2008-: None.
  • 2009-: Minimal to low; may suprise you the first time you see it.
  • 2009- (shortened version): None.
  • Low for the opening variant.
  • None with the closing and generic themes, depending on the theme.
  • None for the silent variant.
  • Low to medium with the 1965 fanfare.
  • None for the still version.

clevelandrox Jarring combination of logos 0 Yesterday, 5:03 PM EST by clevelandrox

I never thought that any Fox logo could be scary, but it is when it follows the sedate MTM logo...going from that quiet logo to the bombastic 20th logo is a little jarring.

Conversely, it's soothing to see the 20th logo after a frightening logo like Four Star.

I spotted a low pitched version of the logo on an episode of "The Simpsons" with the "Gracie Films" logo low pitched also.
